Fort Lewis Soldier Arrested in Sodo Shooting

Posted by on Fri, May 15, 2009 at 12:28 PM

A Fort Lewis soldier was arrested last night after allegedly shooting at a man outside of a nightclub.

Seattle Police Officers were called to the Studio 7 nightclub at about 11pm last night after receiving reports of gunfire.

Witnesses told police that a fight inside the club had spilled out onto the street and that the gunman was on the losing end of the brawl until he pulled out a handgun, pistol-whipped another man, opened fire and then fled the scene in a white T-Bird.

Police pulled the T-bird over and took the alleged gunman, a Fort Lewis soldier, into custody.

At the scene, officers found the soldier's gun in a dumpster, covered in blood. Police say no one was hit in the shooting.

Was this guy in the catering corps or something? I'd hate to think America's finest fighters couldn't hold their own at a nightclub fight.

This is the problem with lowering the military's recruiting standards. Not only are some of these soldiers more likely to find trouble, they're lousy shots too.

So reading that they found his gun in a dumpster makes me think of Full Metal Jacket and how pissed his officers would be that he abandoned his weapon; "This is my rifle this is my gun this ones for fighting and this ones for fun".. Now thats stuck in my head.

Probably the most important part of this article is that he was driving a white T-Bird. Hawt!

An international pagan-themed metal-fest gets a shooting?! Nicely done atheists.

Shouldn't that be "SoDo"? As-is, sounds explicitly sexual.

Where is "Sodo"? When I was growing up in Seattle there wasn't any such place.

"South of Downtown". In analogy to SoHo (South of Houston [how-stun], New Yawk; SoMa (South of Market, San Francisco); and probably a kajillion others.

Sodo was the big marketing term for the area south of the dome and how trendy it was becoming right before the earthquake came along and proved conclusively to locals that building on fill was a crap idea.

Unfortunately, marketing terms are like herpes.

@15: At least nobody's caught the "townhome" yet.

I thought it was "South of the Dome"...I am assuming it was changed to "South of Downtown" to reflect the severe lack of a dome...
