Ingredients:

10 ounces fresh spring greens (could include baby spinach and arugula, mixed mesclun lettuces, overwintered kale and chard, dandelion leaves, pea sprouts, or whatever other greens are in season where you are)
1/2 cup shelled pumpkin seeds
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
4 large radishes, cut in half and then into paper-thin slices
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon rice vinegar or citrus vinegar
Kosher salt and freshly-ground pepper to taste

Method:
If necessary, tear the greens into bite-sized pieces. Toss with the pumpkin seeds, Parmesan, and sliced radishes. Toss with the oil, coating all the leaves well. Then add the vinegar and toss. Taste and season with salt and pepper.

re: abuse photos

HISTORY IS BEING RE-WRITTEN

The conventional wisdom was that Bush was a total boob and failure.
Obama was going to straighten things out.
Policy by policy,
decision by decision;
as Obama reverses positions he campaighned on
and sustains Bush policies and decisions
History is being rewritten.

Historians will note that Bush was heavily critisized but stuck to his guns and that when a new sheriff rode into town to clean the mess up, once he saw what the mess was, he decided that the old sheriff had it just about right.

Good god. Housing a MTF in the male population in jail.

I hope that they're implementing some safeguards for her protection. But I doubt it.

Erica,
Did you see that a White House memo is circulating in DC that states that carbon in the atmosphere is not a threat to human health and that carbon taxes will gut the economy?
I'm so glad Obama believes in Science

"Obama blocks release of photos of Americans abusing detainees."

This is not true. He can't block anything. You've heard of the separation of powers, right?

Please write Senators Cantwell and Murray and ask them why they voted not to cap credit card interest rates. I'd like to hear the answer.

Maria Cantwell - http://cantwell.senate.gov/contact/
Patty Murray - http://murray.senate.gov/email/index.cfm

Cantwell's page says that Washington residents will get a written response. :)

Thanks

Something to think about: If releasing those photos puts American soldiers' lives in greater danger than they are already in, would you still be calling for Obama to approve? What exactly is it that people are trying to gain from the release of the photos? We already know terrible shit happened there at the hands of our own; do we really need to see a picture? Is this like slowing down to gawk at the carnage of a car wreck?

@8 and @11

America is founded on human rights and rule of law.

The photos are of torture.

Obama is blocking them because he's the chief executive. Anytime he wants to release them, he can. The ACLU has sued for years to get them released, first against Bush, now against Obama. Obama is appealing an appeals court decisions saying what the fuck, release the photos. He's taking it to the supreme court where that will take another year. so even if the court rules against him he's blocking them and blocking them for a year.

The reason stated is it will inflame anti american opinion and put troops at greater risk.

Hey protorture dipshits: THAT'S WHY TORTURE IS A BAD IDEA IN THE FIRST PLACE. If you are embarassed to show what the govt. is doing in your name, and if it undermines our security, and since we know it doesn't work, is illegal, etc. we ought to STOP TORTURING which Obama has done but also COME CLEAN AND FESS UP AND THAT WAY the world will know we really, really don't torture and our troops will be safer in the long run.

Hiding bad shit doesn't make it go away, ask anyone.

Carry on.

@8 and @11-- America is founded on human rights and rule of law. And accountability. The photos are of torture. Those responsible need to be accountable. Obama is blocking release of photos as chief executive despite earlier promising to release them and in face of an ACLU lawsuit that started out being against Bush. Obama is appealing an appeals court decisions fuck yeah you gotta release the photos. He's taking it to the supreme court where at best release would be delayed a whole year by that process. His reason is it will inflame anti American opinion and put troops at greater risk. Well no fucking shit Dick Tracy, THAT'S WHY TORTURE IS A BAD IDEA IN THE FIRST PLACE. It's illegal and doing it helps Al Qaeda!! Obama has ordered a stop to torture but he should COME CLEAN AND FESS UP by releasing the photos THAT WAY the world will know we really, really don't torture and won't torture and this helps our security and our troops in the long run. Whatever happened to conservative principles of accountability? Knowing your bad shit will be exposed to the public really, really ensures you don't do bad shit in the future, duh. And the whole torture program is so full of lies and incompetence anyway th real reason folks want to hide this shit is that will be exposed. And in the end there's no good reason to not hold everyone involved accountable under law.

@12 you have this wrong:

"The ACLU has sued for years to get them released, first against Bush, now against Obama."

The ACLU is suing the US, not our president. Obama doesn't control the justice department. Bush might have, but we have no signs that Obama has or even wants to.

"He's taking it to the supreme court"

He hasn't appealed, he hasn't taken it to the supreme court. It's the equivlent of saying Obama ate dinner on 6-20-09. No, he didn't. He might.

"THAT'S WHY TORTURE IS A BAD"

Thanks, got it. I had no idea.

@15, I agree. I really try to keep Ad Blocker Plus off because I believe we're stealing content (reading an article without 'paying' for it.)

But the second I see an auto-play video ad, or one of those annoying flash ads, I turn it back on for at least a week. And it's so easy to forget it's on...

P.S. McKenna, you better not stop me from looking at pictures of local men's junk. Dick.
