1. Lots of news over at the updated Vital 5 Productions web site, including this call for artists:

The deadline is Friday.

8368/1242083864-tacoma_art_museum.jpg2. Meanwhile, Tacoma Art Museum is looking for design proposals that will turn its exterior plaza and perimeter area into "a landmark civic space." The budget is up to $3 million, here is detailed information about the project, and here is a blog on the project that will be moderated by TAM curator Rock Hushka. Students of the expanded field, go to it!

Most major grocery stores do not allow photography or video taping inside and will confiscate and delete any thing you film. I suppose it may be some sort of underground thing. Just move quickly because security will most likely stop and detain you. I have seen them take someone's camera and force them to delete at the QFC at Harvard and Pike St. Not sure if they would do the same with someone's phone camera.

Technically, QFC can kick you out of their store for violating their store policy on photography. But they cannot take your camera and they cannot make you delete your pictures.

Fact.

Know your rights, because half the time the rent-a-cops don't.

@2 Thank you for the advice. I actually saw them yelling at someone that took some film of another person in the dairy isle. They demanded they delete the picture implying they would call the police. Considering the two looked like they may have been drinking they quickly complied and went about their business of shopping. The security guy came out of nowhere and was probably watching them when they pulled out the camera. But this did not seem to be about them as much as it was about filming inside their store and maybe making them look bad or something.

I've made a dozen sculptures in QFC in the past few months and have experienced no issues, though building the things are a lot more suspicious than documenting with a camera. It's non-traditional, a little strange, and makes you approach a grocery store with new eyes, but a store cannot confiscate your camera/phone because you took a picture of your toilet paper castle- they can kick you out for making a mess, but if there was no risk, there would be no thrill. Try it, I think you'll like it.

since the tacoma art museum is almost intently looking for firm-based applications they should see if prium can come up with something for their new plaza. they have already done so much great work in that community, why not let them add another landmark to the tacoma area?

firms suck tam. suck tam's firm. tam sucks firms.
