This Is Why...

Posted by on Tue, May 12, 2009 at 1:18 PM

...I read the SGN. Molly Moon's, gentrification, SEAF, peel-and-eat shrimp, FTMs into S&M, Mother's Day, recommended skin-care products, Dollhouse, Matthew Shepard, Natasha Richardson, the trans film festival, recycling, complaints about Metro bus drivers, new fragrances, a critique of the automobile industry, modern haberdashery—all packed into one action-packed column.

I can't tell whether it is parody or not. Seriously. Someone tell me.

I can't bring myself to read the SGN. I tried to read it once back in 1995 when I first moved to Seattle thinking it would be an improvement over Spokane's "Stonewall News".

Needless to say I was disappointed....very disappointed.

This one had a hard time keeping track of which one was doing what. And also wondering who was in the photo, as neither of them were Rajkhet Dirzhud-Rashid and this one couldn't find any explanation for their presence near such a hot mess of writing.

I read SGN because it makes me proud that I live in an area that has gay newspapers just sitting around.

Complain, you bitches, but never forget how lucky you are.

I usually get my fill of local gay news with Savage, Holden and occasionally Sanders, et al.

I had to double-check to make sure this wasn't a Schmader post.

I'm pretty sure that that was an exercise to see if computers could auto-generate written columns without readers realizing it. Even the author's name looks like it was randomly generated. I think we've all just participated in some grand experiment.

12: Me too! I am a die-hard Rajkhet Dirshneed-Razhneed fan FOR LIFE.

2: Not a parody.

This one has had the profound displeasure of encountering this behemoth size "womyn" at the GLB Film festival a couple years ago. I waited an hour in line to get a good seat for me and my friends... About 2 minutes before the movie started, who should show up but Badninton Racket Rasheeshi Radooka (or whatever the hell she calls herself) and demanded that we move down to make room for her (and boy did she need room). My friend looked at me with an expression that said "your call". So against my better judgment I moved down a seat- which put me directly behind another behemoth sized person. Damn was this one pissed!

Needless to say this one is never going to date another Leo bottom cuz my sweet-as-a-key-lime-pie gumdrops I have completely lost track of what I'm talking about to my army sweeties....

Wow! Writing like that isn't so hard after all...

My favorite part is bemoaning the loss of cheap eats for chi-chi yuppie joints immediately after going on about how great the latest of those joints (Molly Moon) is. Well, that, and the random slave chatter. Shouldn't a slave master be, uh, meaner?

I would say hire this chatterbox for the Stranger, and make her post thirty times a day to Slog, but that would deprive me of the joy of looking at the SGN's graphic design. Believe it or not, it's WAY better now than it used to be. But you don't get too many publications rocking the drop shadow quite like they do.

First, can we say that was a mess? Also, I need to go and pee. And eat lunch. Can we say burp, and then some? Oh yeah! In short, this one naps now.

It is amazing, isn't it? Rajkhet is truly a hurricane of bad writing. There's not a thought in her head she doesn't let out, all at once. My only request is that she take psychedelics before writing to add a cosmic flavor - that's all she's missing.

Fifty-Two-Eighty 20
Oh yeah, hire her for The Stranger, good idea. Then you can watch the page hits here tank even worse than they're already going to be this month. Yeesh.

nothing like listening to someone bitch about "chi chi" "gentrification" ad nauseum to then crow about how their favourite fragrance store is SEPHORA and to mention a sale at NORDSTROM....

I'm shocked that SGN still exists, and had made it to the internet.

Since I've lived in Seattle there's been only two things that have kept me reading the SGN:

1)Mark "Mom" Finley's column, which sadly ended a few years ago, and,
2)The Divine Lipstick and Lust. And yes, it is for real.

The only thing more entertaining than good writing is great-bad writing...

I prefer this incoherent drivel to the self serving, self delusional spewage mark mom finley defecated in/on the SGN. Boy, if BAD writing had a smell...

My theory is that "Lipstick and LUST" is ghostwritten by Adrian Ryan.

I'm with you Dan. I'm going to be seeking out the SGN to read this column from now on. It's like their version of "Ask an Uptight Seattleite".
