"A normal child."

Posted by on Mon, May 11, 2009 at 8:35 AM

64e4/1242061297-clkiller2.jpgThe 16-year-old New Yorker who murdered a reporter he met via Craigslist—the newsman, George Weber, posted an ad to CL offering $60 for rough sex—claims that he stabbed Weber 50 times in self defense. My take on Weber's murder, and my advice to other folks seeking rough sex online, is here.

They should be stabbed to death, for sure.

I would call getting slashed to death "Extreme Rough Sex". The unfortunate victim got a great bargain, probably never even paid the service provider.

You know 50 times isn't very much. It takes about 15 just to notice blood. Unless they're wearing white or gray, and actually yellow too. I mean I'm just guessing here.

Self-defense? Weber was bound with duct tape.

There's just so much wrong with this. He committed murder but if we truly want to remain just one has to look under which circumstances he committed that act. He was drugged (by a fifty year old), lured into performing sadistic sexual acts (by a fifty year old) with the promise of money. If you take into account that he's still a kid then you can start to see a better picture of how vulnerable to a fifty year old predator this young man was.

g, hanging out, roof hopping, hanging off trains,” and “extreme violence (chaos, anarchy, etc ...) video games, violent movies and listening to my iPod.”
@9:
“II am an extremist, an anarchist and a sadomasochist. As long as you show respect for me, I will show respect for you.”

But it warned that if he were not shown respect, he would “break your neck.”

That's from this "poor kids" MYSpace page. And let's not forget that he a)responded to an ad explicitly seeking a rough sex partner b)bound and stabbed the man 50 times (that's 5 times higher than you can count on your hands) and c)was than clear headed enough to escape, lie to police about his injuries and almost managed to flee the county. The kid is not exactly a shrinking violet.

I think LC has officially jumped the shark. Can we call her The Fonz after this, or would that just be mean (to Henry Winkler)?

I really don't know what is the truth in this case. Were is the evidence that this young man waw drugged, besides his stating he was high on cocain (did I miss a link)? How exactly is one lured, didn't the young man answer the ad (or am I missing something)? Was it fear that made him take the murder victim's clothes and run? This, is just so sad.

You know, at Burning Man, there is a game where you tie a glowstick to a string, and put it in the road. Most new people will bend over to pic it up thinking it is a) moop, or b) a new glowstick. Then, it is pulled away a little bit, and makes people go chase it. Its called Raver Fishing (among other names).

The glowstick is a lure. It is a decoy. Something that has been appropriated to trap people for their entertainment. That type of lure is not applicable here.

This lure is a promise of gain, or entertainment. Something beneficial. Money is beneficial. There was absolutely no deception on George Weber's part. Rough Sex for Money. But, because of the first definition, a lure is generally seen as deception. The kid knew what the hell he was doing. He wasn't LURED there deceptively. And, I'm sure he wasn't force-fed drugs if there were drugs involved. He probably wasn't even slipped a mickey. I think I had read cocaine was the drug of choice. It doesn't magically go up one's nose. This kid knew what he was doing, and he needs to go away for what he did.

I'd think that the 'self-defense' argument would be on pretty shaky ground considering that the victim was stabbed nearly 50 times.

Death by stabbing (and bludgeoning) requires more effort on the part of the perpetrator and more up-close involvement. It is a messier form of death, and as such the one using a blade to stab or slice for reasons of self-defense will usually stop either once they are sure that they can safely 'get away' or when the person they've stabbed is incapacitated.

Nearly 50 stab wounds counts toward being excessive to the point of being overkill - especially considering that the ankles of the deceased were bound (with duct tape).
