Slog and Line Out Are Experiencing Technical Difficulties Right Now

Posted by on Fri, May 8, 2009 at 12:44 PM

All of The Stranger websites are having trouble, actually. It has something to do with Arizona and routers and DDoS attacks or something? I don't know. Anyway, some people can still see us (hi iPhone users!), but a lot of people can't (bummer for you, G1's).

Some of those people who can't access the sites and blogs include some Stranger writers, so that explains why there aren't as many posts (or as many comments). But we're working on it! Or Arizona is. Or maybe Bill Gates. I don't know who's doing it, actually, but someone is.

I bet A. Birch Steen is the happiest old fucker in the world right now.

Actually, it's been running a whole lot better for me than it was at about 6:30 this morning - it was really hosed then.

I couldn't see it at home, but I could as soon as I got to work (and it was behaving quite nicely). Perhaps this is the one and only time that having all of my work internet traffic routed through Washington DC is actually helping.

While were talking blog issues, what's up with separate log-ins for Questionland? Maybe the site was just having issues, but at least it saved the viewing public from having to read my stupid rant concerning urban legends surrounding absinthe.

I was starting to get the shakes, but then I could access it 30 minutes or so ago (finally!), and now I'm all better. Whew!

So that's why Mr. Poe has been able to three- and four-post comments for every story today!

(No problems accessing from Chi-town)

#5, questionland is third party hosted software and the Stranger probably has no control over that registration system.

Oh Mr. Poe, you and your delightful death wishes for people you don't like. How I missed them. (not really actually.)

You're just saying that cause you want the bacon, Mr. Poe.

Questionland is the most stupidest thing the Stranger has done yet... of course after:

charging 40 bucks for the 'block party'
having Coors ads
hiring Charles
not firing the Lineout idiots
etc., ad nauseum

I would love to be A. Birch Steen's private secretary. I can just see my work station: a three line phone, an intercom, an IBM selectric, a file cabinet and a mimeograph machine. It would be excellent!

Those hipsters at The Stranger would come skulking by, wanting to know if he was in. I'd tell them that MR STEEN was unavailable, but I'd be happy to take a message. Doubtless Mr. Steen and I would be the cleanest people there, and certainly the most sober.
