There's an open mic and several events tonight.
At F.X. McRory's, Art Thiel, Mike Gastineau and Steve Rudman will read from The Great Book of Seattle Sports Lists. If you don't like sports, you probably won't be in F.X. McRory's anyway, so this reading will remain blissfully off your radar.
Over at Third Place Books, it's kind of the anti-sports book event. Nikki McClure, who makes those paper cut-out art prints that feature children and nature and sometimes rain, signs her new book, All in a Day.
And then Elliott Bay Book Company hosts three authors from awesome small press Akashic Books. Achy Obejas reads from hisher new noirish mystery, Ruins. Robert Arellano reads from his new book Havana Lunar, which is about organized crime in Cuba after the collapse of the Soviet Union. And Maggie Estep is the author of Alice Fantastic, which is a novel about young women and toymakers and I think horses. This is the reading of the night.
The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here.
