These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

Posted by on Fri, May 1, 2009 at 9:37 AM

Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL) reads a long, long list of sex acts on the floor of Congress during the debate about the hate crimes bill that was passed by the House yesterday:

Pedophilia and bestiality and necrophilia and coprophilia aren't among my favorite things, of course, but some of the others items on the congressman's list are pretty swell. And I didn't recognize some of the terms, so I'm going to reserve judgment on those until I do a little lab work. Via DCist.

But will you be doing any lab work with the pedophilia, bestiality, necrophilia and coprophilia? You should at least try these things before you say they aren't your favorite.

This still happens on Capitol Hill? What is this? The 1950s?

Next we'll be debating the red menace and excoriating the youth of today for their "sock hops" and "rock and rolling".

Did he say that "transgenderism" isn't covered by the hate crimes bill? That sucks. I'm still stoked on the bill, but yeesh. (maybe i misunderstood?)

@ 14

I heard that too, but he then said the bill included "gender identity." IRC, I think the house did pass the inclusive version of ENDA.

@19, Pro! He's making fun of this other dude that tried to remove the various acts from inclusion as components of hate crimes. I want to vote for this dude so bad. And I want to hear him autotuned too.

5280, that's covered under coprophilia.

@14 - the deal was that this was a proposed amendment to exclude protections of these "sexual preferences" from the bill. However, the language of the bill clearly includes "gender identity," which in turn includes transgendered individuals. I could look it up, but I'm lazy, so I'm going with the best my memory will allow: I think this amendment was shot down.
