"Fight for Fiber Freedom!"

Posted by on Fri, May 1, 2009 at 10:32 AM

No, it's not a Metamucil uprising...

It looks like folks are meeting tomorrow at noon in Volunteer Park and marching down to Westlake Park. And the march's MySpace web page, which automatically plays "Smoke Two Joints," is over here.

I particularly enjoy the symbolism of the pitchfork in close association with an organized march.

Makes me think of a mob, but in a good way, an old-timey traditional mob.

Is this a bring-your-own-pitchfork thing? What about torches?

I would attend a metamucil uprising. This, not so much. It's the avertising: it's really too vague, and all of the other posters I've seen (that look very different from this one) lead me to believe that the event will be primarily attended by white people with dreadlocks and djembes.

I like it. No mention or indication that Ras Trent will show up.

Had it not said MARIJUANA in big letters along the side I would have had no idea what this was about and even still it took me a bit to notice it.

YOU can have the fiber, but leave the flowers to ME.

The legalization movement would get so much farther if they'd stop with the fucking Sublime worship. Homeboy died of a heroin overdose, so maybe he's not the one we look to when promoting legalization of a recreational drug, hmm?

Huh?

I like pot as much as any other 1970s-era stoner. But that poster is completely baffling. Fiber freedom? Gas pump?

Are they advocating for legalization of pot? Or huffing gasoline fumes?
