Perez Hilton on Miss California (Sorry About The Mental Image)

Posted by on Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 5:10 PM

Perez has got a point—also, did you know that NOM's new ad was pulled off of YouTube today? NOM, as you may recall, got their audition tapes yanked from YouTube by claiming copyright infringement. Well, guess who's infringing copyrights now? Love him or hate him, Perez kicked NOM's ass today.

And in an unrelated development... Chrysler went bankrupt today.

I half expected to click on the Chrysler link and see something kind of goofy (other than the ex-Gov standing next to the president) as a joke by Dan on us to prove no one seems interested in corporate news.

3: Seeing as we are the only blog on earth, I can understand why you would take it so hard. We'll try to write less about the shit that interests us and more about the shit that interests you, 3, in future. Because that's what blogs are for.

@3: I'm in Detroit, and our news isn't making as big a deal about it as you are. Detroiters aren't demanding that every news outlet and blog related to the region carry something about Chrysler - mostly because we knew it was going to come to this when the debt holders realized they'd make more money if the company goes bust.

There really isn't much to report on until terms of restructuring are released - so really in terms of 'actual' news today is no different than yesterday.

Besides, I sometime hear about Detroit area news on Slog first (i.e. the Lions rebranding). So give it a rest.

Will, Saturn isn't a Chrysler brand.

You should hook up with Stop it now. You'd make a cute couple.

I don't know, I have to side with Good As You (http://www.goodasyou.org/good_as_you/200…) here. For a guy who uses other people's image in Fair Use, he's being a little bitchy and I'm sick of Perez Hilton being the go-to person for gay activism.

Dan, you like totally just said Perez interests you.

Oh, great. I suppose we are now supposed to praise Perez as a great defender of intellectual property, as well as civil rights crusader. Or maybe he's just an opportunistic attention whore.

I love how Will is so desperate to say something - ANYTHING! - that he blurts out whatever happens to be in his head even if it's completely wrong.

I guess he's kinda like Sean Hannity in that regard. Or Mr. Beck.

"BWA HA HA HA. Never thought I'd say THIS, but Perez Hilton FTMFW!"

Sure. As soon as no one else says "FTW". Deal? Didn't think so.
SLOG is not a blog. Slog is The Stranger.

It's hard to take Perez seriously on issues of equality when he so clearly despises women and holds them to impossible standards. He's the epitome of the classic misogynistic fag.

I really, really hate the practice of using copyright claims to censor others' criticism of you... it is the absolute worst kind of abuse of the concept of intellectual property and laws need to be changed not only to protect critics from these kinds of claims but to penalize those who make copyright claims to censor (as opposed to simply protecting their sales from competition, as copyright law is supposed to be used for.) NOM's use of this tactic is despicable but even though Lavandeira is giving them a taste of their own medicine I still can't approve. People should be able to hear what NOM has to say even though they are hateful and retarded, because the spirit of free speech demands it.

Perez is a misogynist and a self-loathing homophobe. He needs therapy, not a national platform. Dan, you would do well to keep him at arm's length.

Mysogynist? How so? What'd he say?

Dan and perez are two of a kind. They are the crazy racist uncle of the gay world. As gays we cringe when they are on tv and hope they don't say anything to embarrassing

Having said that, they are also out there doing something. Something more that trolling websites making snarky comments. They have their own blogs to be snarky on.

Much like the drag queens that started the gay rights movement, we may not have chosen them to fight our fight but, they are fighting it and making a real difference.

Thanks Dan and Perez and try not to be too crazy.

seriously, I'm trying to get the brouhaha of perez/ms. cali thing. He asks her topical question; she disagrees ineloquently, her pageant director disagrees with her, but says she's entitled to her misguided opinion and perez calls her names for her misguided opinion and she..makes a video against gay marriage and she has gay activists in her family. Am I missing something as to why this continues to be a bit of a larger story than Maine? And I really am asking seriously.

18 - "As gays we cringe when they are on tv and hope they don't say anything to embarrassing..."

Oh, do we? Thank you for speaking for the entire LGBT population. Or was that only the entire gay male population you were speaking for?

When Perez speaks, sure, I cringe. But Dan has been great on his TV appearances and I look forward to them. If you cringe, that's fine, whatever. Just speak for yourself.

It's interesting that your don't want Perez or Dan to represent teh gayz and yet you're so willing to speak for all of us.

Oh my god, that guy wants me to watch a frickin' ad before I can see his flippin' video diary? I'll wait for the transcript. While I'm waiting for this story to die . . .

I don't quite see the whole "misogyny" and "homophobe" label applied to Perez. He trashes fake celebrities and makes fun of them when most of them deserve to be made fun of. And I'm one fag happy that he nags Hollywood closet cases into coming out of the closet (Neil Patrick Harris and Lance Bass).

Yes I speak for all gays but not lesbians.

Stop being so pedantic. I was thanking dan and perez for speaking out. Dan has taken some controversial positions and said some embarrassing things over the years and "many" gays have said so.

perez hilton can make fun of miss california all he wants but President Obama is also against gay marriage.

Miss california has no power to make laws or change public opinion, Obama does.

perez focuses his hate on miss california.

Clueless.
