Lydia Davis - November 4, 2009

Richard Price - December 1, 2009

Jane & Michael Stern - January 12, 2010 ("authors of Two for the Road: Our Love Affair With American Food and Blue Plate Specials and Blue Ribbon Chefs: The Heart and Soul of America's Great Roadside Restaurants.")

Abraham Verghese - February TBD, 2010 ("His most recent book and first novel is Cutting for Stone, a family saga set in both America and Verghese's home country of Ethiopia.")

Michael Chabon - March 9, 2010

Elaine Pagels - April 30, 2010

I'm excited for Pagels and Chabon. Price comes to town quite a bit—he did three events in a row when he came here last year—and so I was hoping they'd use his slot to get someone who never comes to town. He's still great, though.

I loved watching the little Linda Bowers in training uncomfortably bring question cards up to Linda and Mira Nair last night during the question and answer session.

i second the yay for elaine pagels. i had to wait in line 45 minutes to one hour at a post-reading book signing, and so was a bit tetchy by the time i got to her. maybe it was the stupid fucking yuppie family behind me in line. Dr. Pagels' warmth and empathy instantly drove away my crotchityness and i left with three signed books and a warm glow about me.
