This guy is genius...

In a related development, the House passed the Matthew Shepard hate crimes bill today.

Yeah and what's with the Republican lady from NC saying that the Matthew Shepherd "incident" was a hoax and that the bill is being named after a hoax.

Drama queen. Everybody needs to be protected from violence, although I don't get how someone can identify a lesbian or a gay down the street just by looking at them but yeah good for the House.

You realize, Loves, that the hate crimes law that this bill amends already protects religious folks, and it's harder to tell someone's religious affiliation—which is a choice—than their sexual orientation. Studies show, in fact, that people generally have pretty good gaydar. Also, people are attacked for their perceived sexual orientations, so not all victims of anti-gay hate crimes are, in fact, gay.

The most important point that he makes is at the end: the more they fight, the worse they look.

I disagree Dan, most Mormons are easier to spot than a gay dude...it's the underwear, makes 'em walk funny.

#8 you are a fraud

i am as queer as they come, and, there is NO segment of the population that has any walk that begins to compare to a gaggle of queer men out and about and feeling all OK and having NO need to butch it up

prance, dance, tip toe, and swish, sash shay - all and more - are in play

I love swish with a nice ass

Yeah, he's genius alright. And he didn't have to use a single "fuck" to make his point.

@ 6, well said.

Although, their are some religions that have dress customs that make their faithful easy to spot. I'm thinking of the sweet girls from Sudan that I tutored in reading two years ago.

@11, my Gaydar is broken. Apparently that's why I end up in awkward situations at clubs. I apologize for my inability to distinguish gays on sight.

That said, Mormons are sooo easy to spot!

I am so inspired by how calm this man was while pointing out the continuous lies and misleading statements of TVC. It makes my blood simply boil to see people so focused on their hate that they give up even the smallest semblance of integrity and yet continue to yell about how righteous they are. It is truly great to see that there are people out there who can simply state facts and point out the giant fucking holes in the other sides pitiful arguments while resisting the urge to yell and throw a fit. He did a wonderful job and I only wish I could remain as calm.

"not all victims of anti-gay hate crimes are, in fact, gay."
Especially since evidently we are going to count every kid who gets bullied in school as gay bashed the statistics should really spike.

this guy is a whiny prick nitpicking the numbers like he is going to run tell his mommy

@22, assuming the victim or witnesses survive (which is not always the case) and can relate that his/her attackers called him/her a faggot, cocksucker, lezzie, dyke, etc., mock-raped or really raped him/her, etc., I'd say gay-bashing is an accurate description.

Here's a thought for your hellish troglodyte spawn: DON'T FUCKING BULLY OTHER KIDS.

Why is it that the Religious Right and many Christians must poke their noses into our bedrooms and lives?? I would prefer to ignore them and live my life but they are the ones denying us rights. Such a "christian-like" attitude too, isn't it?

@22: This is an example of the a hate crime directed at someone not gay, but who was perceived to be. A pair of Ecudarion brothers were walking down the street together arm in arm when they were attacked by two men who shouted both racial and anti-gay slurs at them. Both men have been caught and are being charged for hate crimes. If you actually watched that video you would notice that according to the FBI the sort of anti-gay bullying that some of these children were subjected to would be covered under these hate crime laws irregardless of whether those being harassed were in fact homosexual. http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/0…

@27: That's for the benefit of any TVC or supporters who might be watching. Since they seem to lack basic math and reasoning skills one has to assume that they are at least below average IQ.

@21 - no, it's not. They told her to get out. They told her they didn't like her viewpoint and it wasn't welcome at their rally. They didn't tell her they were going to fucking bash her brains in if she didn't get her bigoted ass out of there. Is that clear enough, or do you need a live demonstration of the difference?

@23 - so, if your people get up on Fox News and shout us into silence, that's okay. If they make up statistics that make our points seem moot, that's also okay. However, if we do the same, we're doing something wrong. This guy did the same thing to the TVC that they did to his point. Great logic buddy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypocracy
