I think my favorite bit is Michael Steele's statement:

“Senator Specter didn’t leave the G.O.P. based on principles of any kind. He left to further his personal political interests because he knew that he was going to lose a Republican primary due to his left-wing voting record,” Mr Steele said.

I love it. Steele manages to sound bratty, AND contradict himself. No sir, he didn't leave based on principles, he left because of his left-wing (an adjective choice that deserves its own unpacking) voting record. Which is by all accounts a measure of his...political principles. WTF, who let him release that statement?!

A funnier headline would have been:
Santorum: 'A huge mess'

Santorum and other "conservative" fools, who have acted more like tyrants than leaders, are the cause of Republican's loses. See now if they alter their oppressive habits or insist on continuing their ways.

Santorum's no longer in the Senate, right? So pardon my language, but who the fuck cares what he thinks about anything? Why is the press still talking to this asshole?
