Hey, I Like Molly Moon Ice Cream...

Posted by on Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at 11:36 AM

...but not enough to wait in a line that stretches down the block. And certainly not when they've got the stuff on the dessert menu at Smith.

Guess thrift shops will be seeing a sudden surge in drop-offs of skinny jeans.

...oh seattle; donuts, cupcakes, coffee, and now ice cream...is there anything we aren't willing to pay out the nose for...

And certainly not when you're like, BFF with the owner Linda and suck on her tits every chance you can get with talking all of her establishments.

I was so surprised you let that last piece run about her new place.

I remember when my mom was last scene eating Molly Moon ice cream, my hard penis was in her vag. Barely nestled between those sagging walls, I found me peace.

So, totally, ridiculously overrated.

The lines at the Wallingford location wouldn't have been so bad last summer if the employees weren't sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo insanely slow. It's scooping ice cream -- it's not rocket science.

i personally feel that life is too short to wait in lines and too long to get angry about waiting

nice plug for Linda. Does that ever get old?
Are her ad revenues what keeps you afloat?

Jeebuz, these people are both stimulating the economy AND supporting a local business - quitcherbitchin'already!

Does the Capitol Hill location have more seating? I'm sure commercial rents are expensive, but I'd be much more likely to get ice cream there if I knew I didn't have to eat it outside in the cold rain.

It's still a small joint but yest they do have a little more seating in the Cap Hill location.

Went there the other day. The ice cream is just as good as the Wallingford locations so hit it up if you enjoy the stuff.

The locals are definitely suckers for the latest fad. Nothing beats a McDonald's soft serve vanilla with chocolate sprinkles. Cheap and never a line.

I wouldn't wait that long in line for any food other than a piping hot serving of Jon Hamm...

@10 There's a bit more seating at the Capitol Hill location, but it's still a small shop.

Also, more importantly, those who hate lines should know that there are TWO ice cream stations so they serve twice as many people. It moves quickly.

totally overrated ice cream. the ice cream at full tilt in white center is about 1000 times better!

Same deal with Voodoo Donuts in downtown PDX. Every time I've been there, there's been a huge line.

I do not eat or drink at any joint owned by Linda - sorry - long story.

Now, the icream place is good, vry good. Nice snack, good help, need some gay boys, well worth the 3-4 bucks, hom made cone and giant scoop.Veggie frind raving about the carmel, i am a vanilla fool.

Give it a try, AND they will be open till 11pm, nice break from the bars, go across the street to the park to eat --- vanill is good too, BIG scoop.

Q: long lines? A: location, location - location! makes the visit to FULL TILT in white center that much more exciting. yay. also, that ice cream is so overrated!! AND too fucking expensive.

Doesn't Molly Moon own the ice cream shop? What does this have to do with Linda? Besides the fact it's around the corner from Oddfellows?

Homemade ice cream kicks Molly Moon's ass. Sorry Molly, I'll just make my own.

@ 17,

Bummer. I have never had to wait in line at Voodoo Donuts. I hope you don't have to wait on your next visit.

Full Tilt is coming to Columbia City this summer. Yar.

Everything about Molly Moon makes it a perfect candidate for "Stuff White People Like." Waiting in a really long line says, "I understand ice cream on a much deeper level than you, and am willing to pay a high price and stand in a long line for it."

For those of us who live on Capitol Hill, what other ice cream joints are there besides Molly Moon's within walking distance? It's nice to be able to finally walk somewhere for some DECENT ice cream and not have to hop on a bus for a 45 minute bus ride to Full Tilt.

@ 23 - I'm sure it's a matter of timing, Kim.

@26 - I think there is another ice cream (or maybe frozen yogurt?) place that is supposed to open on Pike between 13th and 14th sometime soon. It's been a while since I noticed the signs, maybe with the economy they're not going to open, but I was very excited at the prospect of an ice cream shop 1 block from my house and I'd bet no line.

I do want to try Molly Moon though. I like ice cream shops, sue me.

Molly Moon makes great ice cream. The butterfat content is not ridiculously high, nor is it an icy, granita-esque sluice like so much commercial crap. The flavors are delicious, the home-made cone smell fills my nose with love and the people who work there smile.

Sorry, but what's not to like?

Linda (of LINDA'S) owns Smith, along with several other joints in the city.

Dan fucking love her and mentions her places in print and online all the time

When one of his staff members ran a negative review of her newest location recently, the next week Dan or Christopher ran her response like right on the third page so she could defend herself

It's just a little pathetic / obvious, but it's his paper i guess

(to Joe @21)
