A US woman had a lucky escape when a burglar's bullet bounced off the metal underwire in her bra.

Police in the city of Detroit said one of three intruders fired a shot when the woman looked out of her window and saw them raiding the house next door.

The bullet smashed the window and hit her, but instead of causing serious injury - or worse - it was deflected off the wiring in her bra.

In less sensational accounts, the bullet also ricocheted off a piece of furniture before encountering the underwire.

Now, let the Slogging begin:
The suspects, all African-Americans 16-18 years old, drove off in a burgundy Neon without hubcaps, according to WWJ.

But Charles seems to have missed this month's story from Brazil, where a wad of cash in a brassiere stopped a bullet.

No offense, Detroit, but when it comes to boobie picture opportunities, ya gotta go with Brazil.

I've heard of bullet bras but this is the first time I've heard of a bullet-proof bra.
