"they came from many lands, they spoke many languages" is probably a dig at some of the weird, more than a little racist, pro-English legislation that's come up in that state.
Loveschild, your constant harangue is starting to fade into background noise, as it should. You are being left behind like all the racists and male chauvinists before you. Buh-bye...

Why don't people understand gay people don't have souls, they aren't even real people so therefor they don't have any rights. I mean if we start giving gay people rights what's next, dogs? I can't believe people still think Mr. Vick did something wrong, dogs don't go to heaven DOGS DON'T HAVE SOULS. When will our congress start only helping people with souls?
Justice's don't make rulings based on the will of the people, they make rulings on what is constitutional, legal, and fair. And, SFC (Stupid F**king Cunt), your brand of christianity isn't constitutional, legal, or fair.

12 asks, "If the courageous fairminded folks of Iowa are so gosh-darn swell why is the Legislature afraid to let them vote on a gay marriage amendment?"
Because putting minority rights up to majority vote is what's known as "total fucking bullshit."

@5 "...in their [the anti-gay bigots?] imposition upon the people of Iowa."
@ 11 "...they will rise up and ensure that the laws are made fair. [by allowing same-sex marriage?]"
Great arguments in supposrt of marriage freedom.
Thanks for finally coming around on the issue.

Quick history review: Black rights, womens rights, minority rights....none were granted by popular vote, they were all granted by the courts and legislature.

like the ad.
these ads - the really good ones - they jerk your chain bc all in 30 seconds they make you really happy that things are getting better and really sad at the same time that there are folks who want to prevent this. that's why i get all choked up during these. happy sad happy sad happy sad.
i want to fist-pump and punch at the same time.
@23. Are you truly that stupid? Constitutional amendments are passed by the legislative branches of federal/state govt. Not a direct vote of the people. Idiot.

Loveschild fails to understand the legal system. As others have said, the Justices DID NOT MAKE NEW LAW they destroyed bad law.
Bad law treats Women as not worth of a vote men enjoy. Bad law treats Black people as unworthy of eating at a restaurant a White person eats at. Bad law treats Gay Americans as not equal to the Civil Right of Marriage that Straight Americans enjoy.
We have seen Courts AND ONLY courts overturn Bad law, that is their role in a civil society. If left to the citizens as some suggest, Women would not be voting, Blacks would have "separate but equal" and Gay Americans would be illegal humans.

@12, no one can vote on constitutional amendments in Iowa for 8 years after this type of law is changed. The earliest that a voter petition could come up is 2017, and this is so because it's written into our state constitution. If people are still pissed about it then, then they're more than welcome to put gay marriage to a petition, and then a ballot measure, which (by Iowa constitution) is still subject to the equal protection clause, which is the basis for the original judicial decision granting gay marriage rights.
Rules like this are why I'm glad I'm not in/from California.
