Attention Sounders: Shorter Shorts!

Posted by on Mon, Apr 20, 2009 at 1:07 PM

I totally agree with this commenter, who said the following regarding our city's new soccer team:

THE SHORTS NEED TO BE SHORTER

I mean, truly, this is unacceptable:

What is that? Two inches of leg? And tuck in your shirt!

Like so:

Thank you. (And with deep gratitude to Ms. Lindy West for the picture-writing inspiration.)

I think Lindy is rubbing off on you.

That being said, I would be in favor of mandatory shirtlessness for all MLS players.

We were always taught to tuck in your shirt so if some one pulls you back the ref is more likely to see it.

You will often see the players tucking them back in during stoppages.

But I agree. No excuse to look sloppy out there. Tuck it in proper.

I'm shocked, I'd think it would be easier to rape people with shorter shorts on!!

I bet you'd be happier if they had cutouts where their junk is, too?

@5: I approve of your proposal.

Really, my objection is to that Under Armor stuff, and those compression shorts. Look at Montero- if he didn't have the compression shorts on, he'd be just fine.

I'd agree if those hairy slobs would shave their legs.

eh, the shorts are same length (of the reference photo). Fredy's just wearing an extra layer under his.

Shirts are usually tucked in when play starts, but they come out. I've seen some players just pull them out when play starts, rather then waiting for them to creep out as they run around.

And hairy legs are beautiful. I have only to look down to confirm this.

This is Seattle and we wouldn't to blind everybody with shockingly pale thighs now would we?

You do realize that in the picture of Beckham he's not wearing his shinguards and the knee-high socks that hold them up? So he's not ready to play, and when he is, he's almost as covered up as Montero?

I do agree that they should go back to the shortie-shorts of the past, preferably as short as Aussie Rules players (or 1960s basketballers). But shorts today are actually shorter than they have been in the past, except for those stupid compression undershorts.

@11: exactly! It's the compression shorts! They must be stopped. I think Kickette had a campaign about it...
