Love For Sale

Posted by on Sun, Apr 19, 2009 at 7:54 PM

I know what this sign in the lobby of my hotel in Chicago means...

...but what about the children?

Either "Restrooms & ATM" or there's a hotel pimp ready to hook you up.

I assume you lived....the cliffhanger did kind of suck my friend. Still, I'd feel like a sh*t for complaining since you are on my short-list of local heroes.

P.S. Waffling on the American Life movie - I know you are in it...worth $20? Be honest.

I'm sure Mr Savage has run to find out if it means what he thinks, and since he hasn't posted anything yet I bet he's disappointed.

My friend's four-year-old kid laughs his ass off now at "But think of the children!" He's a great person.

A Americatologist, using a Rosetta Stone (or thumb drive) in the year 2525, might conclude that we were a matriarchal society with women owning all the cash. The man, was being sent by his mistress, on an errand...perhaps to buy her smokes...stage left.

I believe the sign is helpfully pointing out the FTM machine.

Whew, glad to see evidence that you're alright. Guess those of us in the Eastern time zone can go to bed secure in the knowledge that you and the computer made it and are both in full working order (well, we'll assume that for now at least unless you tell us otherwise).

@3 - I know what you mean, he's on my short list of (in my case not local) heroes, and it is a pretty short list.
Since Dan isn't 'local' for me, I guess that's one of the reasons that shelling out $20 bucks for the viewing of the This American Life movie seems worth it.

"Criticism Grows Of Obama's Decision Not To Prosecute CIA Agents"

Huffington Post.

Ignored on Slog.

More important is idle chitchat, two posts on the Sounders, readings, etc.

Was there ever even a post on the announcement that the torture memos are released, woo hoo, look at us being all transparent and all, but no, sorry you fools who thought there would be change, we agree with the Bush doctrins that if you have a memo saying torture is legal, then suddenly it's legal?

Don't think so.

OK, back to readings, public art, idle chit chat and god-it's-so-boring sports entries.

It's only torture, a crime, in the name of your country.

The future torturers esp. future GOP administrations will note that when Obama said torture is okay,

nobody complained really.

I was thinking about going to see the American Life thing in San Francisco...just heard about it here at this post on this very evening.

The problem: The event is being screened at the Cinemark theater here...the same theater we are supposed to boycott because the CEO (or something) gave big $$ to pass Prop 8.

I don't think I'm going to go after all.

Dan Savage

Well-known columnist and gay-rights activist Dan Savage told CNN News in late November that the boycotts are part of the democratic process: "Part of the democratic process is if you throw a punch, you’re going to have a punch thrown back."[17]

Dan Savage, you are insane. That sign says "If you need to shit or get cash, go this way". Take your medicine, please.

when the only sound in the empty street
is the heavy tread of the heavy feet
that belong to a lonesome cop
I open shop.
When the moon so long has been gazing down
on the wayward ways of a wayward town
that her smile becomes a smirk.
I go to work.

looooove for sale.

I thought it meant there was a nearby wedding chapel ... what did you guys think it meant?

I think it's funny! I couldn't figure out what it meant (although I didn't think about it long) until I read the comments, specifically #1.

Wonder what kids WOULD think it means? Probably not sex, but also probably not restrooms and atm.

Hey, Scary...

Club Quarters on Wacker Drive at Michigan Ave. Great spot right on the river, steps from Michigan Avenue, totally affordable.

thanks for the tip, dan. unfortunately, club quarters is a members-only hotel, and you have to belong to an organization or company. any other places to stay where you don't hafta join up?

Years ago you could book Club Quarters properties thru Travelocity. Check out the major travel sites.

pay toilets should be illegal.

Also, @11: yeah, I've been hearing about it all day everywhere else. there's such a thing as media saturation.
