Where's This Weekend at the Movies? What if I want to see some movies? Am I supposed to browse the movie listings by myself?

re Iowa: In Iowa they should've said regardless of personal prejudice, rather than beliefs.

I no longer believe that people are bigoted against gays because of their religion. I believe that people stick with their bigoted churches because the prejudice and bigotry they hear at the pulpit resonates with the bigotry and prejudice in their hearts.

We should just call it what it is.

Y no noticias sobre el pres. Obama?
Asistio una reunion de lideres latinos. El. Pres.

Paul Revere is an interesting character. He was an accomplished silversmith and took over his father's business in his youth. Revere was the engraver of the famous image of the Boston Massacre. I like that Revere's father's pre-anglicized name, Apollos Rivoire, serves as an indicator of the centuries-long intermingling of French and British in New England that continues to this day. Finally, there were TWO riders in the famous Midnight Ride. Revere took a boat across to Cambridge before mounting up, while William Dawes took the long, land route out through Boston Neck. Boston looked quite different back then before much of the area around the neck was filled in.

re 520 toll. Wow, that's beautiful. Could they screw it up worse? Let's see -- pay $3 or drive to I-90. Tough choice.

I'm a little confused by the Orca item. The linked article indicates that the Orca card will replace all other passes. But unless the pass will also replace cash, then the statement that "the seven public transit agencies using Orca will know right away how many riders they have" is probably not true.

That said, this all seems like a great step in the right direction. I love the idea of using "business intelligence" to more efficiently allocate transit resources.

re: 520

Awesome. They're raising costs to live, as unemployment goes up and wages come down. Way to go liberals.

Oh, God! I used to like Paul Revere & the Raiders' version of "Louie, Louie", until I saw this! Correct me if I'm wrong, Seattliters, but wasn't "LL" originally a regional hit by the Kingsmen, from the Pacific Northwest? I really like their version. Also the KInks put it on TWO consecutive early LPs (the very same recording)! Toots & the Maytals did a "real" reggae version which is just about my favorite, though. Frank Zappa made merciless fun of the song and the amateur garage/high school bands who played it, but for my money "Louie, Louie" is a more significant contribution to American popular music than most everything he did.
Best wishes to all from Pennsylvania.

@8: On the bus, that beeping sound you hear when you put your coins in the slot is the driver pressing a tally button. Riders who pay cash are accounted for.

You know, if I never hear Louie Louie again, I'll be okay with that.

Or never watch Sleepless in Seattle, either.

It's wasn't Paul Revere's ride. It was a team effort by William Dawes, Paul Revere, and Samuel Prescott. They did it together. Please honor them all.
