More Trouble at Fort Lewis

Posted by on Fri, Apr 17, 2009 at 2:45 PM

A Fort Lewis sergeant has been charged in Pierce County Superior Court with pimping two teenage girls, who allegedly traded sex for money under his direction and control.

Sgt. Sterling Terrance Hospedales, 25, was charged Thursday on two counts of first-degree promoting prostitution. He's being held in Pierce County Jail on $50,000 bail.

The rest of the unfortunate story—which involves an air mattress, handcuffs, and an undercover rendezvous at McDonald's—is over on KOMO's site.

In other Fort Lewis news this month: a mysterious gunshot death (someone kills soldier), an accidental gunshot death (wife kills husband during a shooting lesson), a non-fatal stabbing, a stolen rifle (Saddam's pearl-handled AK-47!), and a good deed (it was back in March, but I'm reaching for a silver lining).

These girls are old enough to post nude explicit pictures of themselves on the internet, so why shouldn't they be able to hire themselves out, and get a business manager to help them. The law is too prudish.

Does that story "wife kills husband during shooting lesson" sound fishy to anybody else? The Times article on it said that both of them had been drinking, the woman shot the man in the head, and he was about to leave on a tour of duty.

Obviously we need to ban McDonald's.

Pearl handled AK-47? They're ivory. Only a pimp from a cheap New Orleans whorehouse would carry a pearl-handled rifle.

Got to train those American soldiers to rape. That way when we go take their oil from their countries and the lives of their men, there is something to do with their women.

Why's the theatre fag covering military issues?

Seriously? Not a single fucking veteran on staff? The substitution of a military brat is meaningless.

Brendan, your fetishization of military misbehaviors speaks more about your own inadequacies.

A military brat, huh?
Daddy issues, perhaps?

As a victim's advocate for people with military sexual trauma, I actually commend the military here for allowing this guy to be charged, first in civilian court, and then presumably later by court martial.

Because of the Feres Doctrine the military usually does not let civilian courts get involved in active-duty sexual crimes (and then often improperly handles them within the military's own investigations), but here it looks as if they are doing the right thing.

You're going to have bad eggs wherever you go, but in this case at least the military is handling this man responsibly and lawfully. Kudos to the military.

I wonder if the girls get to keep the $800? Granted, it was gained illegally, but they suffered for it and nobody else deserves it.

Of course The Stranger doesn't have any vets on the staff. It's a small operation, and there's no room for any idiots. The vets can all go work for the government or defense contractors, thus continuing their career as welfare recipients.
