This Weather Makes Me Happy

Posted by Megan Seling on Wed, Apr 15, 2009 at 3:21 PM

And this weather makes me think that next month's Slog Happy should probably be somewhere with a great patio or rooftop bar just incase it's sunny and warm on May 14th. Wouldn't it be lovely to have Slog Happy outside on a warm day after having suffered through the longest, coldest, snowiest winter in the history of the world?

It should be somewhere with good drinks and even better Shirley Temples (it'll almost be my birthday by then, after all, and I'll want to celebrate) and it should be somewhere that's easy for a lot of folks to get to with no more than one bus ride (which makes me think we should save the Sloop for another time, yes?).

What do you think, Sloggers? Where should May's Slog Happy be?

Ha, just kidding. I won't be able to come.

War Room was a good location. Maybe if they turned the sound down a bit and added another employee to keep up with us. Waiting 20 minutes for a drink listening to music at ear-piercing levels was kind of a downer for such a great place.

No more than one bus ride? Capitol Hill really is a black hole.

i'm not sure, but as a non-drinker, i certainly enjoy the idea of a mean shirley temple.

@3 Sloop doesn't have a patio! But I do love the Sloop. We'll have one there, as long as they'll have us.

Shirley Temples are awesome! Although when I am in a drinking mood (which is never these days, but used to come a couple of times a year) I like a Drew Barrymore, which is a Shirley Temple with a shot of vodka.

@10: That's a great name for it. I always heard it as a Dirty Shirley, but I like yours better.

@10--I've never heard of that. Yum...

Megan, I think you should go on a quest to find the city's best Shirley Temple.

I believe there is a bar on Eastlake with a rooftop Patio. I've never been there when it's warm enough to try it out, but it looked big and I've wanted to go back. (Eastlake Bar and Grill maybe?)

you know why there aren't more bars with outside patios?

BECAUSE ITS FUCKING FREEZING EVEN WHEN THE SUN IS OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER.

Roanoke does indeed have a fun, funky outdoor area out back. Also the Eastlake place (Eastlake Bar and Grill, nee Sam's) has a west-facing deck we go to a lot because it overlooks Lake Union, which is fantastic. And they have a tiki bar, and happy hour deals are pretty good. The Garage has lots of outdoor seating - no view - but we should check to see if they've opened it yet.

Pinehurst has an outdoor patio, with a lovely view of 15th and the bus stop.

I'd like the Roanoke, or the red lion (which has that weird patio/deck thing and a taco buffet for happy hour).

The Red Lion! I think it would be nice to take over a bar that has no idea who we are.

And of course I'm in for the tacos.

The Red Lion patio is fantastic.

So is the Roanoke. I agree that a beer pong/flip cup contest could be a helluvalot of fun at the Roanoake.
