On Television Tonight: Bizzarro in Wallingford

Wallingford's longtime favorite Italian restaurant will be featured on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives tonight at 10 p.m.

Which one is Bizzarro supposed to be? Definitely not a drive-in; diner, not so much. And most dives don't make their own pasta and sausages. Whatever—it's for the teevee! Here's a bunch of people who not only look like the host of the show ("Guy's trademark bleached blond spiky hair, rough and tumble tats and distinct fashion sense"), they've uploaded their photos with pride to the Food Network website.

If you love Bizzarro, you might think about going now while you can. The show's producer said that places get insanely busy after the episodes air, and that Bizzarro can expect calls from DD&D fanatics who follow in the show's footsteps asking where the nearest hotels are.

If having distinct fashion sense means wearing a half-sleeve leather jacket, then I guess he does. Have you seen that shit? It blows my fucking mind every time.

This is a remarkably wonderful idea for a show that is defecated upon every time that blonde twit spits out a catch phrase.

Guy Fieri is the biggest douche in the history of television. My opinion of Bizzarro goes down several notches just on hearing that they let him in the door.

@4: I've never seen the show, but from the website his "distinct fashion sense" seems distinctly terrible. I'm going to watch it, though—I am compelled by curiosity!

From my guilty pleasure watching this program on occasion, the place doesn't need to strictly fit as a diner, drive-in or dive (though their profile of Beth's made that one seem two out of three for sure); the only requirement is that the place offer some unique new way to tempt the gout. It's definitely a watch-me-stuff-my-face kind of show, and I'm dying to see how Bizarro is profiled - thanks for the tip.

You tempt The Gout at your peril!

My sister lived (until recently, RIP Blue House) not 50-75 yards from there. A woman from her high school *and* graduating class works and has some stake in it. My sis ate there a couple of times. However, she said it was decent but not excellent enough for the prices they charge. I want to be happy for local Seattle (and Wallingford--Woo!) dining featured on national television, though.

As for which of the three it is? Um, unless I'm not up on Seattle's current definitions of those terms, I would have to say none of the above. Def. not a drive-in, and it doesn't strike me as either a diner or a dive. It seems like a restaurant. Yep.

A woman from her high school *and* graduating class works ^there^ and has some stake in it.

. . . .none of the above. ^I have never eaten there myself (although I want to!), but^ def. not a drive-in . . .

(Oops! Sorry! I need to read and proof more closely before I post.)

The owner of Bizarro, David Nast, is a very cool guy. He changes the decor on a whim, hanging chairs from the ceiling or doing whatever other odd thing moves him.His home is often furnished like the cafe... A boat oar as a hand rail on the stairs, etc..Please don't think less of him b/c of his affiliation with me... But eat at Bizarro...It's yummy.

I want so very much to like Bizzarro. I love Italian food and unique restaurants. I even used to live around the corner. What better place to have as a neighborhood restaurant, right? But it was always disappointing when I went there. The food was so-so and the staff seemed to find customers vaguely inconvenient. Eventually I stopped going back.

I just got done watching. I thought he did a pretty good review, he doesn't make it come across as a Diner or Dive at all. The annoying thing is how they kept repeating the same quotes from the customers, and Guy's usual annoying ass kissing.

I saw Guy in Pam's Kitchen (on 50th and the Ave) a couple weeks back too. Not sure if that ep has already aired, but expect Pam's to become even more overrated soon.

Been about 5 or 6 years since I've been to Bizzarro. Liked the food, but our maitre' de/server came off as a bit of a racist with angry nasty look upon our entry (not used to interracial couples dining in Wallingford?)

Guy's not bad-- NW's are getting their knickers in knots just because he comes off as some so cal surfer dude good ole boy-The places he features by and large feature some potentially delicious comfort food

Ate there once. Didn't like the food, didn't like the service , and I sure as hell didn't like the bill. My review? Bland and over priced.

I saw the Man Vs. Food show on Beth's and that was pretty cool - that dude actually digs in to these ridiculous challenges and makes it entertaining. Guy just seems to ooh and ahh over everything and then takes a bite and makes a face like an angel came in his mouth.

bizzarro hung on to the chef that made all those remarkable items on the show....and SHITCANNED HIM the very next day AFTER this was shot. they'd planned on "downsizing" him for a while when they confirmed the show, but knew damn well that if they lost him that this wouldnt show them to be anything more than the tackiest, most senselessly "decorated" and irritatingly "WE'RE FUCKIN WEIRD AND DONT CARE!!!" overpriced embarrassment that they are.
so dont anybody rush out to this wacky dump expecting ANYTHING they saw on this show to taste right, or to even be on the menu.

the joint belongs in fucking EUGENE.

Wonder if Bizzarro will clean the place up a bit and hire staff with social skills for their turn in the spotlight. The place is a notorious "in crowd" joint. That is, if you know the server or owner, you'll enjoy the experience. If not, then you'd be happier not going. Kinda like a lot of Seattle's "trendy" restaurants.

Why can't Seattle get friendly wait staff? Too much meth/smack and not enough smoke breaks?

I have been a long time bizzarro attendee and have a response to the shit talkers. These guys are making some of the best food in the city! Handmade pasta, specials every day, and the staff is always really welcoming! Check out their yelp and you will see how much people love this place.
