At This Very Moment In Sports

Posted by on Mon, Apr 6, 2009 at 8:12 PM

...North Carolina is beating Michigan State 68-52 in the NCAA men's basketball championship game, which I neglected to mention earlier.

The Mariners also smacked the crap out of the Minnesota Twins. Griffey hit a homer.

I'm so happy that baseball is back that I don't even mind that this picture is at least ten years old.

Go M's.

M's played a solid game. Felix was great. Even Batista was fired up. Good bats on opening day.

Adam Jones was perfect at the plate today, reaching base 5 times (3 hits, 2 walks). Not that anyone in Seattle is paying attention to him anymore.

I thought you'd post a pic that played on the phrase "Minnesota Twins" like this: http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sell/SS…

A lot of people have been ambivalent about Griffey's return to Seattle, but if the off-season surgery has it's intended effect, AND he can stay healthy, he's still got two, maybe three good years left in him, especially in the low-stress DL position, and I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility to see him getting back to a respectable 25+ HR's for the season.

I'm warming up to the whole Griffey Reanimation Project, but I don't think I'll buy any tickets to Safeco until May or so...to see if it really sustains.

Another championship for UNC. Yawn. They're basically a 31st NBA team at this point. Why must college basketball be so exciting for the first 95% of the season only to have the Final Four be the same boring rotation of teams year after year? At least MSU made it to the final game. They should have gotten it out of general principle.

Baseball = ZZZzzzzzzzzzz

"Final Four"... It's funny how the media long ago took all the emphasis off of the actual championship game (the final two teams) and put all the hype into the semi-finals. And all because then they have an extra week to hype the semi-finals up. And the college basketball fans just blindly eat it all up. Yay! The playoffs! What? Championship? Who cares... I just want all the hype on the teams that will compete to play in the championship game, not the actual final two teams themselves. Yay sports tee-vee... tell me what to care about next!

Basketball also = ZZZzzzzzzz

It's funny and kind of heartwarming to see Griffey in Edgar's old position of DH.

Cheers Jr! Im looking forward to opening day, eventhough it will prolly be hailing. Seattle sports is looking up again. Huskies got a decent run despite losing to the boilermakers in the tourney, the Sounders FC are making serious noise, the Huskies football team should make a run under the new coach and the Hawks, well, I dont know about the Hawks yet. the downside could be if the Storm loses LJ, than they will be pretty much worthless.

North Carolina was the best team Ive seen since UNLV in 89-90. Complete dominance. There was not a better team in the tourney. Holly crap! And what about that party in Chapel Hill? I bet the Dookie fans were hating all night long.

I remember how exciting it was when Griffey came back to Cincinnati. I hope he stays healthy and lights it up for the Mariners.

Clearly, the best way to fund the waterfront tunnel is to name it after Griffey and slap a bond levy on the ballot before his hamstring goes out again.

13, you bitch about the same teams being in the Final 4 every year then go onto applaud a team that has been in the Final 4, 5 of the past 11 years. Would have been a better game had UConn made it,their size would have made things more interesting. Tourney pretty much sucked but Nova-Pitt was a classic.

I love Griffey being back, but I'm hoping Ichiro is off the DL for the game next Friday. I want a real Ichiro with my Bobblehead.

@25 Sorry, Ichiro is on the 15-day DL, so it ain't gonna happen.

Oops ... I stand corrected ... He's on the DL retroactive to Mar 31, so he might be back in time.

Dang, @24, I didn't realize I was "bitching", just pointing out how boring it is seeing a) UNC, b) UCLA, c) Duke, d) UConn, or e) Kansas show up in the F4 year after year. Sorry I didn't think to validate MSU's appearances via Wikipedia at 12:15 in the morning.

I agree Nova-Pitt was probably the best game in the tourney.
