...but you'll never make taking off from LAX feel the least bit glamorous, Virgin.

The only way to feel glamorous in LAX is to go to the international terminal (Bradley) and watch the flocks of perfect Asiana and Korean Air stewardesses flutter by.

I smell a fetish.

Always try for John Wayne airport if you can. Only 22 gates, very nice and clean. Avoid LAX at all costs, if possible.

Their Alaska terminal is the worst. Go to Burbank.

LOL, yeah use john Wayne airport if you want to feel like dying upon every takeoff and landing (because rich peoples' tolerance of airport noise is more important than your relative safety level), and if Cinnabon is your idea of dinner.

That said, I can't decide if all of that beige/brown mosaic all over LAX is the best or worst thing ever.

@7:

I'm hardly rich.

But I live in the midwest and it's more economical to fly into JWY and drive to LA or Anaheim than it is to hassle with LAX.

And why would you plan dinner in an airport? If you plan a dinner in an airport, you deserve Cinnabon cuisine.

In god knows how many tips, there's never been a safety issue either. The staff have always been very good to excellent.

There's not much glamour to be found anywhere in air travel these days. But give Virgin some credit for trying, and hopefully inspiring other airlines to follow suit. I appreciate the little things that Virgin does in an attempt to make flying a little more pleasant, and there's no reason that other airlines can't at least step up to their level.

@2, if you're accusing me of having a fetish for Asiana and Korean Air stews -- guilty as charged. What uniforms! Fucking hell: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARfhfcvdZ…

Dan, you spend so much time at LAX that it ought to feel like your "home away from home" by now.

@9: 7 was making the point that, due to noise regulations on the airport because rich people live around it, planes are forced to takeoff and land at steeper angles than normal.

Also, the Alaska terminal at LAX isn't great, but they're planning on moving near Delta soon.

I get turned on by walking down empty beige corridors with indoor-outdoor carpeting.

@11 I'm not criticizing. Fly me to the moon!

ONLY 22 gates? At the airport in my hometown, there's only 12 gates.

Getting out of Los Angeles by any means is always glamorous.

Dear Diary,

The search for glamour continues. Didn't find it today at the airport. Maybe tomorrow I'll try the dumpsters behind Gelson's.

*Sigh*

Anyway, ciao for now.
