Reading Tonight

Posted by on Wed, Apr 1, 2009 at 10:25 AM

8322/1238606610-bookcover-revenge-lrg.jpgPoetry Slam and a couple of readings tonight.

Lisa Lutz reads at Seattle Mystery Bookshop (this afternoon) and at University Book Store (this evening). Revenge of the Spellmans is about a family of detectives. Here is what Lutz's website has to say about this book:

Filled with the signature side-splitting Spellman antics, REVENGE OF THE SPELLMANS is an ingenious, hilarious, and disarmingly tender installment in the Spellman series.

Well there you go. Your evening, all planned out for you.

However, there's another reading, or at least reading-related event, at the Tractor Tavern. Here's what the website says:

JOHN WESLEY HARDING & EUGENE MIRMAN with
JON AUER
JOHN RODERICK
THEE SGT. MAJOR III
SHERMAN ALEXIE

Well, shit. Everybody knows we love Sherman Alexie and Megan Seling kind of loves Eugene Mirman. So clearly this is the reading of the night.

The full readings calendar, including the next week or so, is here.

I'm more than a little weary of a book that guarantees its own hilarity, especially with terms like "side-splitting".
