742,000!

Posted by on Wed, Apr 1, 2009 at 12:06 PM

Far from the bottom:

U.S. private sector axes 742,000 jobs in March
NEW YORK (Reuters) — Job losses in the U.S. private sector accelerated in March, more than economists' expectations, according to a report by ADP Employer Services on Wednesday.

Private employers cut jobs by a record 742,000 in March versus a 706,000 revised cut in February that was originally reported at 697,000 jobs, said ADP, which has been carrying out the survey since 2001

There is nothing left but the government.

Maybe. I work for the postal service and they are talking about 150,000 fewer employees... if not retirements, then layoffs.

What a perfect time for the WA State government to cut over 10,000 jobs. Thanks, Democrats!

We're still hiring in Treasury.

You know those Flat Rate boxes the post office supplies for free? About the size of a shoe box? I delivered one recently in Wallingford and it was 68 pounds (said so right on the label)! I asked the guy what was in it and he laughed. "Bullets" he said. "Everything is going to hell."

Now more than 1 1/2 MILLION Americans have lost their jobs since Obama became President.

That, plus $2 TRILLION in the red.

What a bunch of bed wetters.

Charles, how can the government employ people with money they don't have?

See what happens when you elect a socialist president!

Why didn't anybody listen to Sarah Palin? If we did she would have already created millions of jobs in the mooseburger industry! Think about it, you need to hire people to hunt the moose, you need to hire people to build the helicopters, people to fly the helicopters, people to make the assault weapons, people to sell derivatives on the mooseburgers, people to cook the mooseburgers, people to sell the mooseburgers, people to make the mooseburgers, etc.

PALIN 2012!

How come you still have a job, Charles. In any civilized society, a slacker like you should have been the first one cut.

Right @6, because EVERYBODY know this economic free-fall didn't even begin until January 20th, 2009.

Ever try to steer an oil tanker away from an ice berg? Especially one that the previous captain set on auto-pilot at full-speed, before smashing the helm to bits with a sledge hammer, while at the same time 41% of the crew is refusing to man their duty stations because they claim the new captain won't listen to their advice on what they think is the best way to steer away from the iceberg, which, it turns out, is to simply stay the course, because, heck, maybe the iceberg will just move out of the way on its own before the ship hits it?

Consider this analogy the next time you start whining about how Obama hasn't instantaneously and single-handedly redirected a $14,000,000,000,000 GDP economy in - what's it been now? - 71 days? Particularly with an opposition party hell-bent on obstructing him every step of the way.

That's it @10, that's the BEST you can do?

Even lenny, who isn't exactly an intellectual heavy-weight, if you receive my meaning, is capable of at least forming a coherent sentence, and utilizing a semblance of proper punctuation.

Things must be really slow back in the warehouse today, huh?

Look, let's all moderate our expectations just a bit.

This is month 17 of a recession. Which started more than a year ago under Comrade Bush.

We're turning the ship of state as fast as we can, but it's just been a few weeks since we tossed the insane captain and first mate overboard that had us headed straight for the iceberg and it's going to be a bumpy ride.

At least we avoided a Depression.

Don't strain your arm patting yourself on the back just yet, Will (you'll need it for wanking, after all)

3/4 of a MILLION new unemployed in a month, way more than even the pessimists expected; those folks may not buy your 'at least we avoided a Depression'.

And just where are we being steered now? There is more than one iceberg in the ocean.

And who is steering? Treasury so far has managed to get ZERO undersecretaries appointed, Tiny Tim is doing it all himself (and it shows)

This recession coincides with the term of the Democrapic Congress and Speaker Pelosi, and those clowns are still hanging on Obama's neck.

Perhaps the key is to lower our expectations. It is just hard to know how low to go.
