Furman University

Some of the questions put to me by FU students tonight...

As a guy, is it wrong to hook up with another guy if he already has a girlfriend?

What is your #1 sex tip?

Why are some straight men afraid to go down on a woman?

Are you obliged to tell your "fun" buddy that you have other "fun" buddies?

What is your advice on impromptu anal sex?

Do you want to have children some day?

Does gay sex get easier with experience?

Some of my answers: It's right in high school or college, wrong after; don't read Cosmo; see first question; yes; buttfuck in haste, bleed rectally at leisure; maaaaaaybe; doesn't everything?

Wow. Q #6, clueless much?

Maybe because I've been reading your column/books/slog for years, I thought everyone knew you had a kid. Sure, not everyone knows who you are, but I would think that anyone who was interested enough to attend one of your speaking engagements would know that basic fact about you.

Do you get many people attending these things who have know idea at all who you are? They just come because the flyer says you talk about sex?

Q: why do straight people ask a batshit crazy fag for sex advice?

I don't get the answer to number three.

"Why are some straight men afraid to go down on a woman?"
is also
"It's right in high school or college, wrong after."

What?

@3, the answer is referring to the question one. Which is to say that straight men are afraid to go down on a woman because they are more interested in men.

@3 - It's reasonable for a guy to be "afraid" of going down on a girl in high school or college, but once they reach adulthood they need to stop the bullshit.

Maybe # 6 meant more children some day. A child is not children, technically.

@5 - I insist that all my male partners in college go down on me... personally I think that's already too old for bullshit.

technically, you don't have a kid. DJ has NONE of your DNA.

Someone else had your little party favor for you.

Q: If a bottle of red wine costs $8.99, is it okay to steal it? And if yes, what is the proper orifice in which to hide the bottle of wine?

i went to furman for undergrad, and those questions seemed VERY appropriate from that audience. Likely, most of the people at furman have NO idea who dan is. additionally, i know of quite a few frat parties that featured one particularly hateful queer who would set up in a room and blow frat boys.

also, i'm way jealous because you never came to furman while i was there! you did write me back a very sweet letter when i wrote to you letting you know how much "the kid" meant to me.

i love these posts, your short answers are right on.

ecco homo, who cares if your kid doesn't have some of your dna? are you that vain?

@8 for the WIN! Party Favor.... you crack me up!

@9 for a close second, ECB is the wine thieving loser with empty holes.... I'm sure you probably knew that and I love the off-topic abuse of that waste of sperm... it would have been a win on an ECB post :)

Have a kid, as opposed to adopt a kid.
Sure, Dan might like to have a kid; the desire to reproduce ourselves is hardwired into the species.
Which is why the silly notion that some people are 'homosexuals' and therefore unable to reproduce is hard to take seriously.

Totally.
How about a 'Bristol Palin' style interview, tell all.
The kids of the famous and controversial are fair game for the celebrity raw meat grinder after all, aren't they?

I'm not much on glass in orifices.
I'm more of a door knob man, myself.
If you lick them good they slide right in.
And if you're gentle you can postpone the anal leakage until you are well into your mid-twenties!

@16. He has posted a picture of Terry (in a fake mustache) who was very adorable. He has not to my knowledge posted a picture of DJ, nor do I think he should. Considering the unfortunate threats Dan get concerning his son quite often.

Real straight men love to go down on women, provided you return the favor at some point.

23 Will, as a woman let me say that words are unable to express how nauseating the prospect is.

Maybe what he means is REAL women go down on men. The way Lymerae gets to "insist" that all her male partners go down on her.

@ 25, you know I give head enthusiastically and often, right?

My female partners and I go down on each other too.

It's not a "real" men and "real" women thing. It's a considerate partner thing.

Oh, whoops. I thought you were criticizing me for receiving without giving. It looks like you were... simply unhappy at me for giving OR receiving enjoyable oral sex.

Well, I don't know what to say to that. If you've got a problem with it, you should never have to do something you're really not comfortable with. But yeah, I would want reciprocation from someone I was giving oral to on a regular basis. Your lover should be invested in your pleasure, and vice versa. It has nothing to do with gender roles.

As a student who attended this presentation, I disagree with the poster who said that we Furman students are clueless and don't know who Dan Savage is. I read his weekly column and listen to his podcast and was excited for the opportunity to meet him. Furman has a pretty large gay community, but it's mostly in the closet. Oh and many of these questions were not submitted as serious inquiries ;-)

His answer to #3 was that straight guys think it's "gay" to perform any sort of oral sex.
