Is that? Could it be? Yes! The Seattle Times, which never likes to be perceived as following the Seattle Post-Intelligencer's lead, much less seen as giving a boost to the other team, is, uh, following the P-I's lead and giving a boost to the other team by linking its cross-town rival on its web site.
In the long (and, admittedly, only semi-fascinating) history of local newspaper feuds, this is a major event—something on the order of Rosie O'Donnell and Donald Trump exchanging pie recipes. (And, credit where it's due: Sandeep over at Publicola spotted it first.)
As for deeper meaning, to me it says that the Times a) sees the online-only P-I's anything-goes aggregation scheme as a threat and b) is loosening up a bit. Which is a good thing.
