Megastore Freakout

Barnes & Noble is predicting a six to nine percent drop in comparable sales for the first quarter. If they do worse than they're expecting, you can probably expect more layoffs.

On the plus side, Borders might have stopped firing people for the time being.

Now if B&N had just done a coffee table art book of the Seattle Sounders, they might actually have broken even ... but noooooo.

@4 - why not? Maybe they should reexamine their business model, huh? For example, they could have all the execs serve as nude sushi tables, considering what they get paid ... and maybe if they had monthly Disney book burnings they might get some fresh blood in.

I prefer to buy at local indy places. I hope Bailey/Coy and Elliot Bay are doing better. They are two of this city's treasures.

I just ordered something from them because Amazon was out, so they should do alright.
