Local Food App for iPhone

Locavore is a new iPhone application created by Buster McLeod (of the late, beloved McLeod Residence) that tells you what's in season in your area, where to get it, and what to do with it. It's incredibly intuitive. First, you let it detect where you are. Then, it tells you what's in season, and where and when you can buy it.

You can also find out what's in season all over the country, get information about unfamiliar ingredients, browse by ingredient to find out when a certain type of produce will be coming in season, and—a feature that'll be incredibly handy once farmers' markets open—instantly access recipes from Epicurious that use whatever ingredient you're buying. And bonus points for going with the controversial-but-correct "farmers' market" spelling!

Buy it or get more information here.

(Somehow, I erased this post the first time. Technology, I shake my fist at you!)

Slog.thestranger.com/iPhone is all messed up. The prev/next buttons go to weird places sometimes and it especially gets confused when posts have the same titles. This particular post is really messed up. Great mobile site when it works, tho.

You screw up and delete the post, and it's technology's fault? Geez, do you EVER acknowledge personal error?

Is there a wine section?

I like red. But hate paying too much. Something around $9 is usually ok if I'm buying.

Erica doesn't believe in buying food. She shoplifts at the QFC.

So Erica, who usually blogs about local politics and transit, suddenly decides to blog about WHERE TO BUY FOOD.

So she must be enjoying this. A lot.

Stealing from the QFC is just one big fucking joke. For eight hours of community service they let her off way too easy. She is obviously as smug and conceited over the incident as ever.

Lena, thanks for that. There were some issues with how the URLs were being generated. All fixed up.

Yes. That should be fixed now as well.

Great idea, and it's the kind of app that I'd love to have, but $2.99? Really?

I can't believe you think 3 bucks is too expensive for something you'd use multiple times. Even using something ONCE for three bucks is worth it.
