Please do some reading on the cultural models that drive conservative thinking, Dan -- Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, Maoist China. Defining ordinary things that no one can possibly avoid doing as Crimes Against The State (or crimes against god's morality) means that everyone is guilty; and if everyone is guilty, every threat to the power structure, or moral edifice in this case, can easily be dealt with without having to even think about it. Poof, you're guilty, take him away. Which means not only do you not have to seriously defend your power with actual arguments, or trials, but also everyone is constantly vigilant against both their neighbors and themselves; and the only sure way to avoid being turned in is to turn others in.
The psychology of the homophobe and the fascist citizen is remarkably similar.
Most homophobes know, or at least fear, that the only thing keeping them from performing gay sex acts is the fear of getting caught. And nothing, nothing is worse than getting caught. So it's best if everyone is guilty, and awaiting sentencing, beforehand, just in case.
The mirrors in gyms are for the narcissistic hotties who are too busy looking at their own reflections to notice that I am staring a hole into the crotches of their gym shorts.
Thank you, mirrors at the West Seattle All-Star Fitness - job well done.

uh, unless Dan's changed gyms in the last year, I think he and I go to the same gym and I've never seen him anywhere in the gym besides the racquet ball court where they have no mirrors...

well the story of Narcissus is about a male who spurns females, and then falls in love with his own image without knowing he is looking at himself. ghey.
His crisis management team is doing a really bad job. "Okay... steroids... how can we stop people from talking about steroids... wait! i got it! an article about how you like dating older women, where we also display cheap quasi-gay shots! that'll do it!"
