A former Seattle Post-Intelligencer fan, who's apparently not fully behind Hearst's new online-only project, sends over this doctored version of the final print P-I's A1 photo today. (Click image to enlarge.)
Am I the only one that finds the original Jefferson quote nonsensical on top of being pretty annoying? Granted, there doesn't seem to be a complete context, but it seems really dumb. If I were given the choice between bacon without the Internet and the Internet without bacon, I would choose bacon. Dumb.
@ 5 - That's the point. Without bacon, you'd starve. Without SOMEBODY trying to keep us informed, we'd fall into tyranny very quickly.
I'm pretty tired of this revisionist history of Jefferson (and IMO the whole "he owned slaves, so he was a bad man" thing is utterly ridiculous). No, the guy wasn't a saint. But would you REALLY prefer to see government power concentrated more in Washington, like Hamilton favored?
The de-centralized government that Jefferson preferred is much more in line with the make-your-voice-heard spirit of the internet.
