Vandals Trash Volunteer Park Conservatory

Posted by on Thu, Mar 5, 2009 at 2:10 PM

Seattle Police are investigating several recent incidents of vandalism at Volunteer Park.

Officers were called to the Volunteer Park conservatory on March 3rd after staff reported that someone had thrown a brick through the front door and tipped over several large clay planters—using two metal fence posts, which were also ripped out of the ground—causing about $4,000 worth of damage. The three-foot-wide planters, the report says, ""would have taken a great deal of effort to topple."

Police reviewed the conservatory's security tapes and found that the vandalism had taken place around midnight. The report says there was "no apparent reason for the vandalism"

Two weeks ago, police were also called to Volunteer Park after someone tore up a fence and threw pieces into a pond at the park.

why should the republicans even get their own special building that liberals as well as conservators have to pay for? id be embarrassed to call it a conservatory if it wasnt paid for by free enterprise

Dear vandals: you are shit human beings. I hope you get dengue fever and then run over by a bus just at the moment you're starting to feel a little better.

Argh! This pisses me off SO much. That place is beautiful and one of the best places to spend those shitty winter days. Wandering around amongst the orchids and cacti has gotten me through many times when I was about 2 seconds from telling this city and its rainy ass weather to go fuck themselves. Goddamn kids... Don't make me sit my angry ass out front so I can beat those goddamn nogoodnicks to death with a broomstick cuz I SO will!

There's been an uptick in random vandalism all around the north end of Capitol Hill. Our house got hit (rock through window). Houses around the corner were tagged, people have had things like trees with branches broken, etc.

Not sure if it's just anecdotal, but it feels crappy to deal with.

really they should consider cutting off the hands and balls of these fucking bastards. this is just too much. we need to start pre-emptively kicking the shit out of people who fuck our neighborhood up before the proceed any further

It has long been my fantasy to have vandals and taggers sentenced to tatooing with something obnoxious, like lists of stock quotations from the Wall Street Journal.

I'm not really sure how the Conservatory is republican...I think the first comentor has some serious/hard to pronounce issues. I'm liberal and I've volunteer and enjoyed the conservatory for over 4 years. I don't really see how conservation and education have EVER been republican in the modern era--Teddy Roosevelt does not count. My question to Go away! 'Batin'! is are you the vandal? Because that sounds like the kind of crazy crap a vandal would say...
