Wanna Be Selling Somethin'

Posted by on Mon, Mar 2, 2009 at 10:15 AM

Really, this is one of the creepiest, saddest, most awesome things I've seen in a long time. Michael Jackson is auctioning off basically everything he owns, from his Garden Statuary (April 22) to his vast collection of Amusements, Arcade Games, and Disneyana.

It's that last catalog—available to all in Sessions V and VI on April 24—that is just incredible and mind-fuckingly disturbing to flip through. He owned seemingly every arcade game ever, a carousel horse engraved by Liz Taylor, and several statues of Batman, among hundreds of other children's amusements.

I'm thinking of trying for this dome hockey table for the office:

Does he still own the Beatles catalog? Because I've always wished for him to have to sell that because he has no right to control rights to such a thing (since he's creepy and crazy).

The dome hockey would be sweet, but if I were you I'd go for the Lethal Enforcers machine. That'd be such a great way for you folks to blow off some steam at the office - Dan can pretend he's shooting pit bulls (or Mormons), Charles can pretend he's shooting wads of semen at Natalie Merchant (or Amanda Knox), and Erica can pretend she's shooting people who use plastic grocery bags and/or drive cars.

The saddest thing, imo are the pages of life-sized statues of people (catalog 4 p. 124/125)-- what's with the guy in a suit and military helmet?

@4: i think mccartney bought it back.

isn't the reason jackson doesn't need any of this shit anymore because he's fled 'Murka for Dubai?

How sweet is the Neverland Fire Truck? The Econo-line Van with tinted windows is fucking creepy though.

OH MY GOD. Item 805 in that catalog is a batman suit fitted over a life size replica of the likeness of Michael Jackson!

I'd be careful. You never know what's been in those coin slots.

JFC: McCartney did not buy it back. Jackson still owns it, albeit a highly leveraged ownership. he doesn't live in dubai anymore. he was mooching off some sheik, who later sued him (same old song). now he's, as always, living in beverly hills beyond his means.

Seriously, @13, I was thinking, "who in their right mind would want to own any of those enclosed arcade games like 'Police Trainer 2'?" Jeebuz only knows what went on inside there.

Michael Jackson sold 50% of the rights of the Beatles publishing (he does own the actual recordings) to Sony and still owns the other half. If McCartney owned the rights you would not hear Beatle songs used in commercials (According to Paul).
