How about they call themselves the super adventure club. Or is that already taken?

Just because Warren Buffet made less money this year than last year doesn't mean he "lost" money -- he hadn't yet made those profits so he had nothing to lose. We have to stop thinking about a drop in "profits" as lost money. Things can't grow forever, or at the same rates all the time.

i just watched a video on BBC.com about a Seattle police officer assaulting a 15 year old girl. not a good representation of American police behavior. the video is sickening - and the cop has the balls to plead not guilty. because a tiny 15 year old girl kicking her shoes at you deserves to be slammed against a wall and then the floor and then punched twice in the head before you haul her up to her feet by her hair. WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON WITH THE SEATTLE POLICE DEPARTMENT????

They probably told her to take her shoes off. I hope that asshole sees jail time and that his personal and professional reputation is tarnished forever. Exactly the kind of idiot we don't need in law enforcement.

How about a post about the vigil against gay bashing last night?

Xina @3: No kidding. Wow, that's really something. Too bad the Slog didn't run that story.

You can go back to sleep now.

@3 it's not Seattle PD it was in SeaTac.

the officer who did it is charged with assault.

it is 4th degree assault. not an expert in assault but that seems kinda soft pedaling it.
And if she was held inside cell being beaten, why not charge with first degree kidnapping?

Oh great, he's charged with a misdemeanor:
RCW: "(1) A person is guilty of assault in the fourth degree if, under circumstances not amounting to assault in the first, second, or third degree, or custodial assault, he or she assaults another. (2) Assault in the fourth degree is a gross misdemeanor."
Wow, so it's like the same as when a drunken lout smacks you in a bar. Hm. Somehow for a cop to beat on a 15 y.o. in a cell, someone who can't get away, seems a lot worse. Plus that whole gun carrying, abuse of authority thing.

SLOG...there is B.E. and A.E. -- Before Election and After Election.

BE it was cool to mock Republicans.

But with Your Man in the White House being exposed as incompetent each and every day, the upper middle class is mad as hell and they're screaming out in Comments sections everywhere.

Case in point, check out the reaction to the home page NYT.com article on Obama wanting to waste more billions on the Global Warming scam...I'd say the reaction was about 99 to 1 !!

Limbaugh is now seen as a voice of clarity as the scales fall from people's eyes, they crawl out of bed the morning after and react with horror to what they did on the 1st Tuesday of November 2008.

@3--it always amazes me when people are surprised that someone pleads not guilty. Almost everybody pleads not guilty at arraignment. It doesn't mean anything.

@8--if you read the comments from Savage's posting yesterday, you'll see that there's a discussion about the Assault 4 charge. As much as it sucks (and I agree that it does) there's no other degree of assault that could be charged, based on what we know. The incident doesn't fit into any of the felony assault charges established by the legislature.

I'm bagged on "For the win" - that Will in Seattle thing uses it all the time so I understand it's not completely Unpaid's fault. This sentence structure Dan's so fond of? Over it, too.

@10: Yeah, right. That would explain Obama's 67% approval rating, then. (Just like your friend Bush.)

Calling Sebelius "the enemy of the unborn" by Catholic fanatics is ironic considering the Catholic Church is the enemy of the born. You know the born, the thousand's raped by your priests. Or how about the born gay who the church has created violence against and tried repeatedly to deny their constitutional rights. Or the born Jews that the church has agitated hate and violence against for thousands of years. I could go on but the Catholic Church doesn't care about the living. Only the dish full of cells. Sick fucking religion.

The print media signed it's own death warrant during the leadup to the Iraq war. The press abdicated their role to investigate and challenge those in power. News gathering and real reporting isn't going away. It's changing it's business adress. It's Democracy New and organizations like that that do what the press is supposed to do. that's where reporting is done. the print dailies are just window dressing for car dealerships, furniture wharehouses, department stores and luxury condominium developments.

@10: No, no no. The meme is that Obama is extremely talented and great at everything, but he believes in communism, and we want him to fail. Please do not disrupt our famous "message discipline." Okay?

Thanks.

Huh #22? Obama's cutting taxes and spending a load of money on jobs. You can say Obama is increasing the government deficit like Bush did, but how is he making the economy worse? Would you rather he raise taxes and fire people?
Posted by Econo whiz on March 1, 2009 at 9:16 PM

Reality is that 95 percent of American citizens are getting a TAX CUT.

And the top tax rate for the rich and ultra-rich under President Obama is LOWER than the top tax rate for them under President Reagan.

WAKE UP!

The core of the economic problem is the housing bubble and bank insolvency.
The stimulus is not addressing that, it throws a lot of borrowed money away for no benefit, and Obama's policies are making the banking crisis worse.
And the taxes he is raising cut the heart out of the small businesses that will provide the real jobs that will lift the economy out of recession (as opposed to short-term made-up jobs the stimulus funds).
You may hate Wall St but the folks there are not political, only greedy; and the Money in the nation so far finds Obama to be a disaster.
Clinton learned that a President has to care what Wall St thinks, by the time Obama catches on how low will the markets have plunged?
We need an FDR, so far Obama has been reading from Hoover's script.

24
Reality is that you can't tax the 5% enough to lower taxes on 95%.
Once upon a time they called it VooDoo economics.

Centrist Southern Moderate Clinton and a REPUBLICAN congress balanced the budget.
During the Bush years Republicans spent like Democrats and deservedly got canned.
The economic freefall started after the Democrats took over Congress. (The market is down 50% in the 16 months since Pelosi became speaker- in a little over a year a loss of ONE HALF your 401K))
A Demo President and Congress is a recipe for economic disaster.
Don't take my word for it.
Watch the news.

The Democratic Congress could have passed a jobs stimulus a year ago, they prefered to let things get bad to assure a victory in November.
