Today in Rumors: Madame K's to Close

It sounds like Ballard's beloved Madame K's—the pizzeria in a former brothel—will only be open for another month or so, to be replaced by another, as-yet-unnamed restaurant. This Saturday is Madame K's 10-year anniversary.

Madame K (a.k.a. Kirsten Burt, the proprietress) opened another pizzeria/honky-tonk out in Carnation called Lazy K's nine months ago.

This make me unhappy.

Their Artie Parmi pizza with the artichoke/parmesan cheese mixture smothering the crunchy deep dish crush is soooo amazing. No pizza place in town has anything that comes close!

And they have amazing sangria!

This is very sad. Kirsten is a bright, energetic all-around great lady. You should have her tell the story of opening Madame K's... it's a good 'un.

i won't miss the artie parmie pizza, that thing was an abomination. other pizzas were respectable. their deep dish is no chicago deep dish, but as they made no claim to be in the style of chicago deep dish, i felt it was good for what it was.

eh...I never got the whole, wisecracking/bitchy waitress thing since the majority of waitrons in this town are wisecracking/bitchy...

Wow, this is a major blow.

Kirsten has long been disaffected (to put it mildly) with the transformation of Ballard...I have to think that must be playing into her decision to close.

Sad, sad day for Seattle.

They had gluten-free pizza. This is a sad day for Celiacs.

I'm sorry, but the worst pizza I have ever had was at Madame K's. The mushrooms came out of a can and they seemed like they were dumped on the pizza, water and all, after the pizza came out of the oven. Maybe they were having a bad day but I wasn't going to give them another chance. There are too many better pizza places in Seattle (Pazzo's, The Wallingford Pizza House, etc.) to go back to a place that showed me bad service and bad food.

Pizzerias must be a lot cheaper to operate in Carnation. You only have to stock dough, sauce, cheese, pepperonis, and meth.

I used to really love that place when it first opened, but after their best waitresses departed it went kinda downhill, both in the kitchen and in the service. But I loved that Mac and Cheese they did, even with all the grease it was floating in. I'm glad she's got another place open.

I tried to go there a few times but they were always closed. The one time I went there when they were open, I was with my 12-year-old nephew and they wouldn't let him in. Fuck them out of business.
