Who's Really the Winner in This Scenario?

Posted by on Wed, Feb 25, 2009 at 2:50 PM

I just got an e-mail from "an avid Dem Slog reader" about my upcoming spring roll eating contest with Dino Rossi. The subject line of the e-mail is "Winner, Loser," and it reads:

Reading your all-you-can-eat spring roll competition post yesterday and watching Obama's speech made me think of an old article in the WSJ in 2004. John Harwood predicted great, bright futures for two young state senators — Obama and Dino Rossi.

One delivered his first SOTU last night. The other — unemployed — is, well, eating spring rolls with you.

Contrast.

This e-mail totally made my day.

Would y'all quit referring to his teleprompter speach last night as SOTU...it was not. Plus he sure set himself up for failure next year...

@2 ... you seek to, rightly, correct people that last night's event was not a SOTU address... but it's really hard to take criticism/correction/advice/anything from someone who cannot spell SPEECH correctly.

It works better when you keep bringing up Sarah Palin.

Keep bringing up Sarah Palin.

Don't get cocky, Paul. Dino's type can unhinge their jaws.

Dino can't afford to buy his own spring rolls anymore!

Why oh why does anyone take Rossi seriously anymore? I swear the PI interviews him every time the governor does something controversial, like he's the best option for a Republican they've got? He lost his bid for office. Twice. Move on, folks. Eat spring rolls with someone worth eating them with, fer cryin' out loud.

Rossi sounds like cold boiled pasta in a fresh pot.

Not as good as hot boiled pasta in a well-used pot.

But twice as expensive.

@10: I'm not quite sure what you mean, but I have a strong feeling that it's incredibly inane.

@11: you have just reached the meaning of everything Will posts: hard to understand, totally pointless. Bonus points for somewhat false or offensive.

Is this Rossi's way of saying he's challenging Murray in '10?

@11 - try reading the NY Times sometimes.

You know, broaden your horizons.

There is life beyond SLOG.
