Economy Dubai To All That

Dubai is the place that locks up DJs caught with pot—and people caught with two pot seeds stuck to their shoes. And lesbian couples caught kissing on the beach—and straight ones too.

We should call out to the women of the muslim countries to come to the west and leave the burkas behind. I hear Oprah is becoming popular for all those forced to stay in their homes. If enough women start to leave, maybe stupid men will get the idea.

@5, I'm pretty sure it must be censored in Dubai. A friend of mine there says the censors open up the packages with Marvel comics her sister sends her from California, and black out all the blasphemous skintight outfits on the superheroines.

#8: Unfortunately, it's not that easy for women to leave their husbands there. The culture believes that women are ultimately owned by their fathers. If a wife leaves or is kicked out by her husband, she is returned to her family of origin, who may honor-kill her for "shaming" them.

Okay, some of the drug cases were pretty ridiculous, but if you're going to a foreign country it's only common sense to learn what their laws are and try to follow them. I mean, yes, the laws may be bullshit, but you wouldn't like some tourist coming into your house and using your bathroom without asking just because it's acceptable in their country... right?

Just so you know, "euros" are used in certain European countries. To further clear up any other misconceptions: we do have freedom, we enjoy our civil rights, and we had abolished slavery (both real and de facto) decades before the US did.

@ 11 - That fucker is Muslim, too. He was beating his wife, and when she finally had the guts to leave him, he killed her rather than be shamed by having his wife leave him.
