I liked how erudite some of the conversations could get on his show. You don't see that very often in talk shows. An interesting combination of people having some rather fascinating conversations.

So there's this New Zealish movie, The Quiet Earth, right? It begins with a man waking up and finding that every other person on earth is vanished, though traces and signs of them remain everywhere. Eventually, as he wanders through empty cities, reveling in his freedom and trying not to go mad from the loneliness, he finds that there are others...
Basically what I'm saying is I'd like ECB to write a feminism post today, so I can look at the comments and remember this fine film.

So I guess while Dan was galavanting around the US of A, Slog made a decision to have no dick day without him, so now he's going to be a dick. Or maybe he's being a cunt. It must be delightful to work with him on a daily basis.
I never knew Dick Cavett either, but my dad was a fanboy. The one thing I know about Cavett was that he was genius enough to make anagrams of anyone's name at a moment's notice. Alec Guinness was Genuine Class.
I love Dick Cavett. If anyone is bored with the lack of dicks here today, go check out his blog, http://cavett.blogs.nytimes.com.
Waaaaaaay back in the day, when NYT charged for the "premium" content, his blog was one of the reasons I subscribed. He's hilarious, and tells amazing stories about old/dead celebrities you probably don't think about every day, and he can be a little bit of a dick, too.

Dick Nixon is the Rodney Dangerfield of politics. He can't get no respect. People give too much credit to Reagan. Nixon's divisive cultural politics are what made Reagan possible. Even the photo of tricky dick that once led this post is gone. Alas and alack.
