Why the rush on the stimulus bill. Can't we just have eight more days? That would at least give Obama, Congress and the country time to review 100 billion each day to make sure it's efficient and really does create jobs. Why is that too much to ask?

Buffalo is cursed, I swear to god. The millionth reason I'm so happy I don't live there anymore: ice making planes drop from the sky. Worst place on earth.

Yes chipmunk O and the Ds have handled this badly. They should have passed a $200 billion infrastructure plan already. Who could argue against fixing bridges?
Then added some other spending such as the electric grid. Then some alt energy.
Tax cuts for lower income.
BTW they really need to figure out how to help with people in mortgage trouble without rewarding them for overbuying while doing nothing for the prudent. Perhaps help pay the mortgages but make the holder and home owner split the cost. Holders get less from the mortgage while the owner has a lien put on the house.

I know, like, a total dilemma, right? So I bought BOTH! I'm gonna stick the "Use Genuine Microsoft Software" stickers on the back window of my car. Peace, brah!

Corporate stores like Apple's and Sony's, and now Microsoft's, aren't like regular stores -- selling enough merchandise to make a profit. They're about brand awareness. I seriously doubt either the Apple store in the U District or in U Village are profitable in their own right, and I KNOW the Sony store isn't. Most people buy their gear elsewhere or online. But they go in and fiddle with the display models.

The continuing lack of debate at Slog about the inadequacy of the stimulus plan and the overly vague banking plan is v. disappointing. Kind of reflective of an overly adulatory stance.
Krugman again:
"I've got a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach -- a feeling America just isn't rising to the greatest economic challenge in 70 years. The best may not lack all conviction, but they seem alarmingly willing to settle for half measures."
Yup, that aptly describes most Slog readers, most Democrats right now, most Americans. And it is the inevitable result of Obama's flawed desire to be so freaking bipartisan with people whose principles make them oppose what is needed tooth and claw every step of the way.
Obama should be running right over them and driving them into the ground, and stop fucking praising Republicans all over the place.
"There's stll time to turn this around. But Mr. Obama has to be stronger looking forward. Otehrwise, the verdict on the crisis might be that no, we can't."
Sadly Obamaphilia keeps us from even having this discussion. The silence from all the Obama supporters is deafening. There's a bit of carping here and there about minor issues like oh my god they took out funding for artists, when the MAIN issue is studiously avoided.

Perhaps we Sloggers are not commenting on this stimulus package, because we all realize that we are fucked no matter what we do. Or perhaps we are all a little too concerned about our own economic well being to even care about what the country as a whole is going through.

PC @22: The "The continuing lack of debate" is due to general agreement here with Krugman's and your opinion of the stimulus plan & banking bailout. Economic policy analysis isn't Slog's bread and butter. Debate on Slog isn't going to accomplish anything at all. Letter writing and other traditional advocacy techniques might.
