My Friday the 13th Dilemma

Posted by on Tue, Feb 10, 2009 at 4:55 PM

Is it wrong that I'm just a teensy bit excited about the new Friday the 13th movie? I know, it's another remake from Platinum Dunes—Michael Bay's production company which has churned out a zillion and a half shitty horror film retreads in the last few years—and it's sure to be a turd fest, but it's not like they're painting over the Mona Lisa or anything.

Lindy says there's no press screening before the film opens this Friday—which is rarely ever a good sign—and, truth be told, I kind of hate the slasher sub-genre anyways, but I'm still probably going to end up seeing it. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a man with a machete and a hockey mask.

And now the real reason for this post:

I am excited to see Jared Padalecki shirtless and maybe pantless. I will be there opening night.

There was a press/homeless screening last night at Pacific Place.

I didn't realize how not funny Arsenio Hall was back then until I watched this skit now.

God I hope Jared Padalecki is shirtless, that will make the whole thing worthwhile.

Jonah, I'm with you. I generally hate horror movies, but for some reason I'm kind of pumped for this one. And I've never seen any of the previous versions. Explain THAT...

I don't think it's a shot for shot remake because judging by the commercials, Jason is the killer in this one instead of his mother Mrs Voorhies...which, of ocurse, is the stumper question in the first Scream...

Is it wrong that I am beyond excited about this movie? I don't care if it sucks, I love Friday the 13th movies and always will. I even loved the one where Jason went to space. Something about the mindless slaughter of slutty teenagers makes me smile!
