That Didn't Take Long

Posted by Dan Savage on Sat, Feb 7, 2009 at 12:35 PM

The new head of the GOP under investigation for fraud.

Michael S. Steele, the newly elected chairman of the Republican National Committee, arranged for his 2006 Senate campaign to pay a defunct company run by his sister for services that were never performed, his finance chairman from that campaign has told federal prosecutors.

My Republican friend keeps bugging me about Democrats and taxes. So this bit of information makes me very happy.

This is a return to traditional Maryland values.

You know, neither the Democrats or the Republifucks have what you'd exactly call a stellar record of being honest. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that they're all low-life scum-sucking asswipes.

Admitting that "you forgot" to pay taxes, i.e., an admission of guilt and criminality, and being under investigation for something that is alleged are two different things.

But you knew that...right ?

Republicans are scum sucking thieves. If all the corruption they fostered in Iraqi no bid contracts were'nt proof enough, which apparently it isn't for die hard morons who support the most rotten bunch of crooks and liars in the history of the world, then Steele is more proof they won't believe. By the way, it is easy to find out you've made mistakes in your taxes, millions have. But outright thievery of tax payer money, like the Republicans engage in, is considered by their supporters as business as usual. Rats.

That's OK, conservative Bushies have proven to be Orwellian zombies. Thank god it's changing these days. We're tired of the rape of the Constitution. Let's hope the rapist is brought up on charges.

(oh, and republicunts are sore losers)

Stimulus news report:
we have this big compromise now and Krugman says "to appease the centrists" -- that would be the 3 or 4 final senators you need to get over the incredibly undemocratic 60 vote hurdle -- "a plan that was already too small and too focused on ineffective tax cuts has been made significantly smaller, and even more focused on tax cuts."
Instead of appeasement, why didn't Obama try something new, like mobilizing his supporters? He had a 17% win in Maine, yet he has to appease Collins and Snowe by tossing them what they fucking want?

It's STILL all about cloture, 60 votes, pandering to incredibly powerful GOP members who can be that 60th vote, so everything gets watered down into ineffective bullshit, like it always does.

Obama: "Change."
Krugman: plan is now "very bad."
Discuss.

Actually your typical Republican is coping with the new administration must better than the typical neurotic miserable unsatisfiable sloger.

Next time your repub friend gloats a little too much about a couple of Dems and their taxes, remind them of the never ending stream of sleezy repub sex scandals. Better to be late on a few grand in taxes than molesting young boys or making the occasional hook up in the airport men's room. That should shut them up.

Has anyone actually tried to hire a Nanny and pay payroll taxes for them? Do you calculate business-related expenses on your taxes? The government doesn't make it easy to do the right thing.

5280@4: what happened to you, man? Back in the day you and I fought the good fight for Hils. You bitter that she lost the nom?

Dems are not perfect, but they are 10x more ethical and consistent than Republicants. Not to mention fiscally and judicially prudent...
