Olbermann Fillets Cheney

Posted by David Schmader on Fri, Feb 6, 2009 at 11:10 AM

And don't let my simplistic subject line scare you off. Dude's got points to make and facts-or-lack-thereof to back him up.

Thanks for the heads-up, Towleroad.

Well said! That was awesome. Some one please escort Dick back to either his lair or to prison.

(Preferably, Prison)

As usual, his bombast goes a bit over the top at the end (Cromwell? Really?). Nevertheless, points well made. Cheney is a lying manipulative asswipe.

Cheney should move to Dubai and live with all of his stateless multi-national cronies. He is no longer a real American. Haliburtin, the construction giant run by Cheney before he became Bush's VP, was given all those no-bid contracts to build the infra-structure for the Iraq war on Cheney's reccomendations. The company then moved its head-quarters to Dubai so their records could not be supoenaed which might prove massive cost-padding and bribery.
He has proven himself no friend to this nation.

Claiming they shut the barn door after the horses got out won't alter the fact that the most horrific terrorist attack on the US took place on Cheney's watch. Really, he should just STFU for his own good.

Keith Olbermann is my hero.

*swoon*

Olbermann really has cross-market appeal. To me, he's a delightful history geek (with good copy editors!). To my brother, he's an ESPN great. He's drifting closer to sermonizing, but I agree with his views and enjoy the way he says them.

Whatever happened to Mary Cheney? Anyone besides me remember her speech on Pride weekend in Volunteer Park, when her dad was first running for V.P.? What did they do to her? Knowing them, I'm guessing some carrot and some stick, including billions of $, her father's ill health, and a promise to officially recognize her gay "lifestyle." Any chance her partner's a Republican plant?

I (generally) like Olbermann, but this one kind of pissed me off. There are all kinds of ways to unpack Cheney's bullshit and expose him for the liar he is without saying that Cheney needs to leave the country, and that he's aiding and abetting terrorists, yadda yadda. I don't see how turning Republicans' bullshit arguments against them is particularly useful anymore. Entertaining, sure. Useful - not so much. This segment could (should) have been much shorter and more powerful had he just called Cheney out on his specific lies, and left it at that.

Am I the only hard-care liberal who's a little sick of Olbermann anymore? Seriously, I just can't listen to the same old bullshit anymore.

Want fresh liberal rants? Read The Nation or New Republic or hell listen to Mike Malloy on AM1090.

Olbermann is often the only voice saying what 10,000 Democratic leaders and opinion makers should be saying, but don't.

Olbermann gets to the point. Cheney and his pals skinned the American taxpayer alive and got a lot of people killed for no reason. I don't think there has ever been anyone I have ever known of that has so goddamned much gall as Dick does. STFU Cheney!

Well yes, maybe he's a LITTLE bit of an ass, but being consistently, manifestly, articulately and demonstrably RIGHT might excuse a guy for a little overconfidence. People have been calling me arrogant since I was four years old - and I'm not likely to change to protect the self-esteem of the stupid, either. Kudos to Olbermann for same.

I loved the Cromwell quote.

Particularly when you consider that the Parliament Cromwell disposed of was corrupt and served no-one but the remnants of a defeated Royalist cause, which had been vanquished on the defeat of the forces of Charles I.

Can someone please show Cheney to the same scaffold on which Charles ended his wasteful, corrupt and damging reign.
