Kennedy Had a Secretary Named Lincoln...

Posted by on Fri, Feb 6, 2009 at 3:14 PM

5cc0/1233952252-300h.jpg...and Lincoln had a secretary named Kennedy* and Kennedy just posthumously returned a book he had taken on loan about Lincoln to the library. It was over fifty years overdue. Eerie!

* I know it's not true. But that Lincoln/Kennedy thing has become like the Footprints poem of presidential lore: Interesting for its ubiquity.

I'm surprised this country of ours let JFK take the oath of office with an overdue book. ;)
My parents bought a "parchment" poster shortly after JFK was shot that had 2 columns on it, a side-by-side chart of all the supposed coincidences between Kennedy & Lincoln. And now you tell me that stuff isn't true?!?1?1!

That website that's supposed to debunk the coincidences basically says "Well, they're just coincidences," which is exactly what they're presented as...a few of them are mildly inaccurate but I think they still hold water as INTERESTING COINCIDENCES.

Hmph. I kept a book for six months and the library threatened me with a collection agency. There really is a separate rulebook for the wealthy and powerful.

#2, I think your handle may be more accurate if it was 'the word "interesting" just lost all meaning'

On the other hand, Lincoln was born in his father's log cabin; John Kennedy once spilled Log Cabin syrup in his father's Lincoln. Spooky!
