For that Special Leper in Your Life

Posted by on Tue, Feb 3, 2009 at 3:44 PM

Currently in the window of the Capitol Hill Value Village:

mamaT.jpg

A toddler-sized (life-sized?) Mother Teresa doll, complete with rugged jawline, lifelike eye-mole, and heavily bandaged burn victim hands!

The woman won a Nobel Peace Prize, for god's sake, people. Haven't you always wanted to snuggle with a saint?

Do you not know that the word God is always capitalized when used in the context of your remarks?
I checked and it's in the dictionary that way!

First the doggy pursuit post, now another piece of fine reporting of what's going on just outside the Stranger office front door! Somebody make it at least a three-peat today on Slog. This is like when the news weather guy does a live report from the sidewalk outside the teevee studio.

@ 2, some go as far as to write 'G*D as if the word itself carried power. Dictionaries aside I never capitalize the word god because I intend to show disrespect for the concept of god and the silly notion that I must acknowledge anything as "holy."

Um, she isn't a saint.

She's the Blessed Mother Teresa. She is one miracle short of Sainthood.

You know what happens when you assume? (see:The Assumption)

She was a fraud. She hurt more women and girls with her supposed help than almost anyone except Bush and his abstinence only shit. She made sure her own sisters lived in grinding, fatal poverty, made sure women who could not afford kids had them, and sucked the life out of many volunteers.
She's burning in hell right now.

Saint, schmaint. I was named after two saints, one of whom apparently has been "unsainted" by the Catholic Church - which is, like, doubly incomprehensible to me - so, it's really not such a big deal anymore.

I mean, seriously, these days what do you get? A feast day, a medallion, and your likeness mysteriously imprinted on some sort of food product. Not like the old days, when you'd at least get one of your knuckle bones put on display at a whole cathedral built in your honor.

Check out Penn & Tellers' episode of BS, "Holier Than Thou," which examines the life of Mother T (picks up around 04:20).
