That was the most gut-wrenchingly awful set I'd ever seen.

It was pretty rockin seeing The Boss overslide on his knees during the set and mash his nuts off the camera/man.

Jennifer Hudson was great doing the national anthem, but I'm on the fence now, having also caught the replay of the Puppy Bowl's opening ceremonies.

Was Bruce Springsteen made at me?
Was it something I said?
For starters, "No physicians have been trained in how to evaluate for requests like this and prescribe life-ending doses of medication," said Wechkin, whose organization has not determined its policy. "This isn't something we have classes on in medical school."
Really? They didn't discuss it? Ever? Even on Hospital Ethics Day?

I call bullshit.

After the halftime show, I noticed an baby-boomer friend on facebook's status: "...thinks that was the best half-time show in a long time!"

...

so, who had the live-sloggers decided we're expecting next year? Ozzie Osbourne? I can't wait to see her face(book) after that one.

Metro fares increased yesterday. The first weekday is the only time I put money in the machine (because I never remember to buy my pass in time), and that extra quarter made it even more annoying.

@7, the colors were all wrong in that match, from the plasticky blue and Bellevue-dentist white on the court to the dark shorts on Nadal. And I used to find it charming when he would dig his undies out his asshole after every point, but now it seems trite.

I'm talking like John McCain here. You kids quit playing on my lawn.

Springsteen looked like he was enjoying himself immensely.... it's hard for me to knock his performance when he just looked so happy and cute.

Totally not a boomer, but damn, he looks fine and he fucked the shit to town out of that stage. He looks way better than Jack White.

Slog, I'm a bit concerned that you didn't post anything in the morning news about the UK's record snowfall and how that has affected London and other communities. Maybe in a later post? I don't feel as bad about Seattle's deep freeze now. There are striking similarities. DGMW, it still sucked, but I can laugh with sympathy when I looked at some of the video.

Urgutha Forka @7: In other sports news, Rafael Nadal beat Roger Federer in the Australian Open Men's Final in a pretty spectacular tennis match.

Yeah, Sunday was one of the greatest sporting days ever. To me, Larry Fitzgerald of the Cardinals is the Rafael Nadal of football. And that's about as high praise as I can give an athlete.

For me, everything worked out perfectly yesterday. Nadal won. Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald were brilliant. But the Steelers still took home the title. Yay, Pittsburgh!

Oh, and if I could make another cross-sports comparison, to me Ben Roethlisberger is the Tim Duncan of football.

@16 and 25
The early matches with no-name players have way worse colors, without fail, but yeah neither Nadal's or Federer's choices were flattering.
At this point, I don't know if Nadal does the undies thing because they're really riding him up (if so, jeesus! get some new shorts already!!) or if it's just his habit, like Sharapova's ball bouncing, hair-over-the-ears-every-fucking-time habit.

I was definitely rooting for Nadal too, but it was still sad seeing Federer break down on the ceremony platform. I think he finally realizes that the torch has officially been passed and his best days are behind him. In a way, I'd like to see him win the French Open, just to shake things up.

Great sports day though, no doubt!

Springsteen is the only famous rock musician from that era that is aging well. He's not trying to be 25 forever, (think Sammy Hagar). He seems comfortable being his own age, albeit with a lot more energy than most nutty middle aged guys.

@30,

Don't forget Patti Smith, whose gig at the Showbox in Seattle in Summer 2007 (when she was then 60) was A-W-E-S-O-M-E, indeed.
