Sims Announcement Coming Soon

Posted by on Mon, Feb 2, 2009 at 9:25 AM

King County Executive Ron Sims, who's been rumored to be up for a post in the Obama administration, is making some sort of announcement today at 10 a.m. His spokesperson, Cindy Cawaling, tells me she can't say what exactly it's about.

I'll save our commenters the trouble and make my own self-mocking guess: Commerce Secretary! Now what's your guess?

UPDATE: As the commenters point out, why wait for an announcement when the leaked news is right here?

Sims is going to Washington, D.C. intending to take a job as deputy secretary, No. 2, at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He needs Senate confirmation.

Huh. Now that we have this "non-partisan" county exec, we could get someone WORSE than sims to replace him, some republican in compassionate clothing.

Wish he would take Nickels with him.

@5, OMG, what a nightmare that would have been. Good riddance, and I hope he rots the rest of his life away in DC. What an egotistical sore he's been on Seattle for the last 5 years or so. I don't know what happened to him to make him change into such a nay-sayer and shortsighted jackass, but I'm glad he's gone. Although i certainly hope with @6 that he finds a way to take Nickels with him.

Are you guys trying on purpose not to admit that Josh broke this story a week ago? Because you are usually pretty good about crediting journalists who get the scoop.

good news - the fate of the county resides on hard fiscal decisions and just flat out excellent real time administration

neither are Ron's bag - so good move for all - he can pitch vision all over DC and become a real star on the chicken dinner gig

love the guy - best even on gay rights going way back - but good time to move on

Nickels will be mayor for life - all you whiners are in your own political desert on that one
