The Morning News

Posted by on Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 7:41 AM

A Case of the Mondays: 40,000 layoffs in one fucking day.

Going Green: Obama promises to impose tougher emission restrictions on automakers.

But It's Already Too Late: Scientists say climate change is irreversible.

Channel Change: Congress likely to delay DTV transition.

Drown Our Sorrows: Gov. Gregoire thinks booze can save our ailing economy.

Linebaker: Seahawk Leroy Hill busted for pot (which is dumb, but hopefully makes it easier to re-sign him).

I Really Shouldn't Have Skipped Science Class So Often: University of Maryland researchers teleport quantums, or something.

Britcom Nerds, Rejoice: Red Dwarf is coming back

CNN reported 70,000 jobs lost yesterday. Whatever the number it is the sound of pain. We should stone Bush and Cheney on the Mall, then start on the CEO's.

Red Dwarf! Red Dwarf! Shriek indeed!! The show that taught me the word "smegma" when I was but a wee girl.

Oh my God - the climate is changing! Always has. But despite all the hype, there really is no evidence that man-made global emissions are warming the Earth. In fact it's cooling. The hottest year in the last century was in the 1930's.

"Taylor said Hill had apparently fallen asleep behind the wheel at a major intersection."

Dumb dumb dumb!

But in the same story

"In April, defensive tackle Rocky Bernard, also due to be a free agent this offseason, was accused of hitting his girlfriend in the head at a Seattle nightclub. He pleaded not guilty and is under a court order for two years."

Why don't assaulters get the same punishments as stoners from the league/teams? Is is less bad to knock your lady around? I dunno...

re: climate change

The nice lady scientist is fretting about climate getting back to 'normal'.

NORMAL = CONSTANTLY CHANGING

Climate is not static.

It changed when humans were a just a gleam in some pond scum's eye and will change after we are gone and the cockroaches rule.

In the Middle Ages they had vineyards in England, for crying out loud.

Note to climate scientists- stfu. please.

@2, read the article. Tim Sheldon, D-Potlatch, is your man. He's tried before, but he's trying again, and I for one am fully behind him. I don't care if they raise the tax, I just want liquor sold in private stores like in the civilized world. Then maybe I could sample some of the many fascinating liquors of the world that the WSLCB doesn't carry.

Hey guys, we're all pulling for the President.
However, if we are talking 'world of hurt' the topic must be 'impending storm of panty-twisting and shrieking from every disappointed left wing interest group that doesn't get what it thinks it deserves from a new Democratic president (and that will be all of them)'.
Warren was just a sample.
It happens every time a Dem gets elected.
This time should be better than most, however.
Obama ran pretty liberal.
Since he won, however, he has been impressively catering to the right and middle.
And after 8 years of Bush/Cheney the left is really salivating for goodies that will never materialize.
Personally I have my earplugs ready.
It will be quite a show, however.

The sound of your rants does my heart good.
Sure Obama has done or said things I don't 100% agree with but...
What party and party dress are you talking about?
Maybe you just like the sound of your own voice or need to be acknowledged?

I've recently been watching Red Dwarf from the beginning on Netflix. It's been super rad. Apparently I had totally forgotten about/never watched season 7 and 8 so...brand new!
