Dizzle at the Dance

Posted by on Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 10:22 AM

A message from David Russo, Genius Award-winner, one of this year's Sundance Kids, and writer/director of The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle (who wouldn't give an interview before he left for Sundance, but answered my email with: "Thanks so much, Brendan. But Lynn Shelton is your story, not us. Trust me on that."):

Just so maybe one paper can get it right: No, Dizzle has not been picked up by a New York company, they are our reps. Yes, Dizzle has been picked up for distribution in Australia & New Zealand. Germany, Netherlands, & U.K. are our next targets.

Because of impossibly bad screening times, the core of indie-industry & press never even saw Dizzle at Sundance. We hope to start getting their attention in the coming months. The Blog response for the film has been super positive so we're looking forward to SxSW & Berlin where we'll try to get more industry asses in seats.

Was I right about HUMPDAY or what? I'll also be right about what a corrupt idea the stupid fucking tunnel is, and have joined the cause of trying to kill it once and for all with I-99 Kool-Aid. It'll be harder than finding distribution for a butt-fish movie, but I gotta try...

He was right about Humpday and he's right about the tunnel—it's Seattle organized crime's favorite waterfront option...

Isn't Dizzle the little Drow girl with the pigtails and the scimitars? And wasn't she played by Alexa Vega in jet-black makeup in the original 1999 version?

Yes! I remember now! it was kind of Annie meets the Dark Elf Trilogy, except that her conception was anything but immaculate, involving as it did a marilith demon and a blood sacrifice of several captured illithids... And there was that great song, when all the priestesses of the spider goddess were performing a ritual to blacken the sky...

The sun'll go out tomorrow
Bet your bottom gold piece that tomorrow
Will be night

The Drow'll come out tomorrow
Deck the world with cobwebs and with sorrow
No more light!

Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
We'll slaughter tomorrow,
And no-one can stop us now!

Seattle has organized crime?

@3 - Yes... It's called "Local Government", its part of a larger syndicate called "State Government" which is controlled by a crime family usually referred to as "The Democrats".
