Matt Browning's Trophy Trophy (2008), leather from baseballs, acrylic glue, 21 x 16 inches
At Lawrimore Project. (Gallery site here.)
At a great, standing-room-only conversation with three artists last night at Lawrimore Project (tag-team moderated by free-range artist Jeffry Mitchell and analytical curator Sara Krajewski), Krajewski started things off with the question: "Trophies: Why are they so important to men?"
Saturday at 2, another artist talk at the gallery—with the anti-trophy-maker Heide Hinrichs. One of her works is a string of pearls on the floor that reverse-dominates its section of the gallery by making you fear stepping on it.
